I met Matthew in Fiji in 1985 and even back then I was impressed with athletic abilities as he leaped over a highjump set about 4 inches off the ground. His family moved to New Zealand in '87 and I was able to observe his soccer skills first hand.   He went through a stage where everytime he kicked the ball he would have to fall down. He was very good at it. Strangely, he broke his arm while walking between classes at school. He is an easy victim and the target of blame for everything that goes wrong simply because it usually is his fault.   Still he manages to go through life happy with a smile for everyone. Ended up in Starship Hospital with a boli on his shoulder. He may have gone on to become a leader of a revolutionary group (Head Boy of Waiuku College), but he will always remain my trusty Tonto. 1995 - he gave David a computer game. The game had a faulty disc. When Matthew went to return it he was picked up by security because it wasn't in a bag and he didn't have the receipt. Update 2005 - Found a shiela via the Net and ended up moving to OZ to be with her. Only trouble is she is in Newcastle and he works in Sydney. Poor guy travels it by train day in, day out. They were married in Dec 2007. Gail and I were there with David. Update 2014 - A daughter, Maia, and living in Canberra. Update 2018 - And now a son, Coen. Update 2022 - Heads Goggle Wings in Australia
