Born in LA. While technically not my first girlfriend - that would be Karen Cox, 2nd grade - Signe probably earns mention for longevity. Signe pulled my heart strings, on and off, for 10-12 years. My first real date was with Signe; but I can't tell you about it because I promised her that I wouldn't mention the orange hair story - whoops. We are still good friends 66 years onward; but maybe after this page, things might change. I must stress this: Signe has been the Malley-Mate to maintain contact for the longest period of time. I met the Daniels, the Breths and others in our neighborhood gang at the same time, but they have all disappeared from my life. Trombone. Yes, she actually played a trombone! I wonder was the last time she tooted a trombone? From high school onwards she has been in choirs. Did I tell you about the time she broke her nose diving into a pool? I think there was water in it at the time. Ws studying to be a fashion designer before quitting University of Mankato. First job was as a secretary to VP of National car rental company. A holdover from the old days when people worked for a company and then retired, Signe has been with Dairy Queen International® for 29 years now. Probably employing the experience gained at the Tom Tom Drive-In on Cedar Avenue where she served hamburgers and fries in the summer of '65? In 1970 she bought herself a 1968 Impala convertible. Her first go at matrimony found her with a ready-made family of three kids, to which they added a daughter. Second marriage combined a family with husband Doug, comprised of active teens and more than a few pets, has to be keeping Signe busy. But not too busy to be a good friend. Straight from the horse's (filly that is) mouth: "latest 'hobby' or leisure pastime is photography. I take rolls and rolls of film, particularly when traveling. I just developed 17 from my trip to Europe". So it is understandable that she would have ended caught up in the Scrapbooking craze that hit in the late 90's. In 2001 she had a neck operation. |

Now settled permanently in Florida Signe has not retired. No, she has begun a new business Effectivity Solutions. She was a keen skier, but a knee operation in 2009 has probably put an end to that. Mind you, that's nothing compared to 2016 when she had another knee op, 2 rotor cuffs done and lower back surgery | ||
