CONSTITUTION 0F THE NIGHT OWLS CLUB | |
Laws 1-20 proposed and instituted April 13, 1963. | |
1) | The dues of said club are to be ten cents and to be paid at each weekly meeting. |
2) | The failure of payment of said dues for two simultaneous weeks will cause the Sargent-at-Arms to confiscate the key for a time of one week. |
3) | Dues may be accompanied by extra monitary which may not exceed one dollar. |
4) | The vice president is in charge of recording and arranging sleepouts. |
5) | The weekly meeting will be called by the president, who will set the time and place. |
6) | Any goofing off at meeting will cause the Sargent-at-Arms to confiscate the key for three days-..-for not obeying an order: one day. |
7) | Four members are needed to transact business. |
8) | A subject must be discussed one week and voted upon the following week. Unless an emergency requires other dire steps to be taken. |
9) | Any amendment for a law or the constitution cannot be brought up for discussion or action until two months following its instatement. |
10) | Non-members may be allowed into said clubhouse under the following conditions: one member-two; two-three members-three; four members-four. Violation will cause the Sargent-at-Arms to confiscate the key for three days. |
11) | The said club will have a prohibition list;any member allowing any person up into the clubhouse will cause the Sargent-at-Arms to confiscate the key for one. week. On list: Everyone under eleven except Danita Fair. Rene Sandquist, Marsha Olson, Gloria Olson, Judy Anderson, Warren Windom, Georgi Windom, Deborah Baker, Lynn Henkell, Teri Daniels, Milo Hines. |
12) | Muddy shoes will not be allowed into said clubhouse; penalty for violation will be custodian work for me week. |
13) | A punishment of three days to two months will be delivered for any damage of the clubhouse according to the degree. |
14) | The president is in-charge of locking up the clubhouse everynight and of the custodian work. |
15) | An omission of a required item will cause the Sargent-at-Arms to confiscate the key for two days. |
16) | The said club will have a bulletin board on which the financial record will be posted with notices and club rules. |
17) | An amount of ten dollars is required before a member can receive a key. |
18) | No more than eight people are allowed into the clubhouse at one time. |
19) | Any member not allowing another member to come up will cause the Sargent-at-Arms to confiscate the key for two days. |
20) | The club will maintain a. constant membership of four paying members. |
21) | Proposed April 13, 1963 and instituted on April 20,1963. No one, except members, allowed up into said clubhouse while working, during sleep outs, or at meetings. The working clause holds only until June 16, 1963. |
22) | Proposed April 13, 1963 and instituted on April 20, 1963. The club will purchase a flashlight to be used on sleep outs and at times when electricity is unavailable. |
23) | Proposed April 13, 1963 and instituted on April 20, 1963. Mr. Breth is considered a honorary member due to his outstanding help and understanding given to the Night Owls Club. |
24) | Proposed May 25, 1963 and instituted on June 15, 1963. Animals are not allowed into said clubhouse and a penalty of four days will be rendered for violation. |
25) | Proposed August 3, 1963 and instituted on August 10, 1963. The said club will maintain a slam book for enjoyment. |
26) | Proposed August 3, 1963 and instituted on August 10, 1963. The said club will purchase a combination lock due to recent break-ins and losses in the treasury. |
27) | Proposed August 10, 1963 and instituted on August 17, 1983. The said club will have a Girl of the Month poster on which will be posted: Age, Weight, Height, School, Eyes, Hair and Reason. |
28) | Proposed August 10, 1963 and instituted on August 17, 1963. An emergency prohibition list will be maintained in order to secure safety, having the same twenty-five cent fine. |
29) | Proposed October 6, 1963 and instituted on October 12, 1963. The punishment for stealing will be exactly twice the amount taken. |
30) | Proposed October 5, 1963 and instituted on October 12, 1963. The club colors shall be red (Richfield) and gold (De La Salle). |
31) | Proposed October 26, 1963 and instituted on November 2, 1963. The said club shall purchase a club stamp upon which the words "Night Owls-John Steve-Bill Kincy" will be written. The stamp will be used on all club documents and materials. |
32) | Proposed October 26, 1963 and instituted on November 2, 1963. The said club shall have a Club Songbook in which all pertaining songs, including the club song, will be kept. |
33) | Proposed November 2, 1963 and instituted on November 9, 1963. The name of said club house shall officially be The Birdhouse. |
34) | December 14, 1963 and instituted on December 21, 1963. The said club shall purchase a model owl, which shall be the club mascot and be called "Clyde". |
35) | December 14, 1963 and instituted on December 21, 1963. The said club shall have the power to bring any member to trial to decide his guilt or innocence. The procedure followed will be the presentation of charge, the plea, the evidence, and the vote. All laws except fines and dues are suspective to this law. |
36) | December 14, 1963 and instituted on December 21, 1963. The said club shall have the power to boycott any member in poor standing. Poor standing shall be defined as promiscuity of dues and/or fines over the total of fifty cents, failure to attend meetings for three weeks in a row, and gross violation of at least one law in an attempt to disploit the said club. The said boycott shall be a social boycott whereupon the member in contempt shall be omitted from all club activities until reparation is made. |
37) | December 7, 1963 and instituted on December 21, 1963. The said club shall have a Miss Night Owl to reign for the time of one year, starting on January first. The winner shall be determined by an elimination of sixteen candidates. Contestants must meet the following requirements: 1) Must be a resident of Minnesota, preferably Minneapolis or a suburb 2) Must be of good moral character 3) Must be between the ages of eleven and twenty 4) Must be a close friend of at least one member. |
38) | December 14, 1963 and instituted on December 21, 1963. The said club shall record attendance at meetings. Five free absences are al1owed per year and a nickel fine for every day over. |
39) | Proposed February 15, 1964 and instituted on February 29, 1964. A Quiz-a-Night Owl question will be posed to each member at each meeting, so that a better understanding of laws will be accomplished. |
