"Sgt. John Malecek writes his parents from Vienna, Austria telling of a new assignment in the army and that he likes his work.* He is now a motor sargeant in charge of the repair of trucks. He has a number of German boys helping him and he states that he has considerable time off during the days and gets to do a little sightseeing". * He and 3 other sgts, pretty much used the Captain's jeep to go to a restaurant for breakfast, lunch and supper. Captain never used it, never looked in on them and the "Germans" they were to watch (Labor Supervision Division) pretty much took care of themselves. |
