Arches National Park enlarge
The reason we went to Moab, Utah was to see National Parks and Arches being the closer one we went there first.  Decided to do Devil's Garden as it has the most arches.  And I set Double O Arch as my goal, a 4 mile course.  Two girls ahead of us left their friend, Madelaine, behind at the start. She caught up with us in time to get into a photo.

Ran into an elderly couple at Landscape Arch who thought it was the "Double Arch" because they had walked one mile... turned out that they were on the wrong trail, confusing it with the "Double O Arch"...so was able to sort things out for them.

Gail made it to the following arches before she had to stop (about 1 mile) and sit in the shade feeding grapes to chipmunks while I carried on.

Turned out to be the right choice as the trail became steep and one stretch was across the top of a "fin" (shear drop on either side). I, of course, loved it and had fantastic views including two Utah fires.

Double O Arch and photos can't give the feel for its size - upper arch is 50 feet

Really wobbly on return to Gail, so took opportunity to chat with Canadian with tripod who does National Parks whenever he can and has a friend in New Zealand. When we got back to the start point there were the people from breakfast so had a chance to congratulate the groom and kiss the bride. When asked by Karen if that were a NZ tradition or just mine, I gave her a hug and said its just me. So then Ruth wanted a hug. Yep, good ol' Malley kissing strangers and hugging in the middle of a National Park. We took to the car and drove to a few outlooks but didn't feel like any more trails.

Region was under oceans for 250 million years and what we see is a salt valley after 100 million years of erosion.

Well, we saw over 10 arches, only a couple 1000 left to view - and we didn't even get to the spectacular scenery spots like The Windows, Tower Arch, Fiery Furnace and Park Avenue!!!!
