David Blado and I hitchhiked to Waimea where we were to pick up the gifts (from Santa) that Mrs. Hasegawa had left in the church. The priest was gone and we couldn't find them anywhere. So we called her from a phone booth and left a message for her to pick us up. We waited an hour. We eventually found the priest near Hapuna beach in this ultra modern church (Ascension Mission) hidden away in trees and only accessable via a sand road. It is surrounded by private beach homes of the extremely wealthy. He told us that the gifts were back in Waimea at his house by the church, next to the door and the door wasn't locked. We hadn't thought about trying the door thinking that it would be locked. So back to Waimea, then finally after three hours we made it to their house.

Helter-skelter. David and I helped somewhat, chasing down items that were impossible to find. Had a good meal with some friends who came over and then played softball with the kids and their German Shepard. Also saw their pony, but the goat had recently run off. A niece came over with her boyfriend. When it got dark we threw firecrackers and lit sparklers. Finally after an exhausting day we got a ride back with her niece. The only thing I can remember is that David made a pun that was really great about something of social significance and the three of them took it seriously. He also slept most of the way back.
