QVS Teachers |
Netani Tokalauvere Druvesi |
Netani was the senior member on the staff, not only in age, but tenure - he was QVS. Well old style QVS and he held onto both Fijian and British traditions fighting any modernization suggested by Kiwis and Yankees. Big in every way - big smile, big family (son Epi was a prefect when I was there), big drinker. I never made it to the Old Boys Club rooms, but I heard stories of his epic stints there amid the smoke filled billiards room. Come to think of it, I never saw him smoke. Story has it that he kept working after retirement age and eventually had to be forced to stop. I have always wondered who may have taken on his mantel as the "na qase mai Bau". |
