 bonnie Christmas Eve
found the Needhams over for a meal and visit and give us a update on the building of their swimming pool. Unfortunately, Trish had to cancel as her David had a seizure. I got neat finger ring lights and Goofy things from Ne, a head lamp from David and shirts from Gail.

Sophie made a great choice — Luke — and they had her dream fairytale wedding on Awhitu’s golden sand beach under a spreading pohutakawa tree.
Gail and I joined family and friends who blew soap bubbles and attempted to sing “All You Need Is Love”.         fairies I thought it was pretty cool when asked how we were connected to the couple and I got to say: “I taught Sophie’s father in 1973”.         enlarge Mr and Mrs

Christmas Day
we were joined by Russell, Ann and Christopher. They gave Gail a pumice stone with a candle in it (we float it in the fish pond) and a Goofy stapler for me.

Boxing Day
Jackie was the traditional gathering with the Whites. Ian Had a great time playing “Buzz” (music questions) and “Eye Toy” (cleverly puts players into the games on the TV screen) on a Play Station. Some of us played some an old fashioned boardgame "Careers".

New Year’s Eve
Brundell dropped in with his new purple van. Chris and Ann arrived without Russell who had to work until 2:30AM. We got up a game of “Wizards' Quest” and when the tardy Mr White arrived we let him be the orcs (love them orc frenzies). Five of us dove into the very warm water at midnight. Followed that with bubbly and fireworks.

Malley Muses
Battery Carpets
Not our shortest camping outing (less than 6 hours with Tom and Kathy in 1988) but more frustrating. We hadn’t tented for years so this was to be a big adventure. Went to a new place, northern most point on the Coromandel, with Whites and Chris Weeks (he probably had the only fun moment when he bodyboarded down the raging stream). We set up five tents in a strong breeze. During the night 3 went down in what was classed as a cyclone, so we decamped and left, just making it out before the stream's ford became unspassable.
Never mind poor chickens. What about all those rolls of carpets stuffed onto shelves in dimly lit storage sheds? It's inhumane that they are only released to be walked upon for the remainder of their life.
