1969 | Hawaii: Details in Peace Corps Journal.
1973 | Anare came around noon. Talked about what sort of camera he should buy. Tacos for lunch and then billiards and snooker. Played darts and I hit the 10 twice on a bet. Had a barbecue meal for supper. Helped Stringfields shift to a rental house next to tracks and they gave us a set of coffee mugs, a vacuum and a metal shelving unit.
1974 | Pukekohe with Lendrum where College Old Boys played an Auckland "C" grade team and lost 36-34. I only made 4 points and I had a good jaw boning to the ref about his biased calls in what was suppose to be a "friendly" game. Tausie called from Auckland. McGhies over for a meal (heavy spumante) and billiards. Barry shaved his beard.
1979 | Sa - Garage sale ($643). A dealer came before 8AM and told us the market value was for the larger items. He bought the sofa for $55. Sold most of the stuff by 9:30AM. Sold freezer for $200. Sold tent for $50 to a couple girls from Canada. Pretty much dead by noon and we closed shop at 3PM. Barbecue at Heather and Colin's in Papatoetoe. About 30 people. Helped Colin with the cooking. Talked to a guy from NZ Express, then to John who just built a 3 story house. Left at 10PM. Meanwhile mom's friend Megan dropped off cans of mushroom soup.
1981 | T - Chuck and Inez came for Baked Alaska.
1982 | W - Jerry's for brunch. Steak and eggs for $2.99 - fantastic value. Back home to show our Minnesota vacation slides to Steve and Roxane. They left for Fairmont at 2PM.

1991 | Whites where we met Jimmy Stewart (couldn't understand a word he said). Gail and I went for a surf, then back for bridge, supper and more bridge.
1997 | M - 4 hours doing software audit. Card from Bensons.
2001 | David, Gail and I went to the Awhitu Environmental Camp where we joined the Whites. Couple rubbers of bridge while the young'uns played Risk, Scotland Yard, Beans, etc... I hit the bed and missed Russell, Ann and Chris' arrival. After supper we had the Grand Prix Awards ceremony with a St Aubyns medium Sparkling wine (video). Ian led us in a Trivial Pursuit contest that he had put together for school (video). I helped Susi and Chris out (Go team 2) and we did okay. White young'uns left, so we oldies taught Russell and Ann Chinese checkers while Chris and David played games. Gail and I didn't like the '99 de Bortoli Durif red. | Eva's bears RISKers GPers |
2002 | Senad (now done with uni) showed up to paint the back wall of the house and shoot a little pool. He has to move the car to and from train depot parking lot as they can't afford to rent a parking spot ($400/mo).
2006 | Gail and I went to Emery's for a barbecue under there new canopy fueled by a Stoneleigh '06 Sauvignon Blanc. Roseanne, Scott and Sam also there. Checked out the lights at Paul's and sip an excellent MacArthurs Park 2002 Merlot while playing TP. |
|
2007 | Joined Whites at Blackbutt Reserve for the traditional line-up photo. Walked along a great nature trail seeing wombats, koalas, lizards and many birds. When we finished that there was a magician doing his act for a birthday party and stayed onto watch it. Bar Beach where Gail joined Ian to fight the powerful waves. David joined in on a French cricket game. Picked up some barbecue stuff on way back to motel (turn prohibitions making it a tricky matter to get into Coles carpark). Went to swanky Central Apartments where the Whites were staying for a lovely outdoor meal. I enjoyed a Dalfarras '04 Shiraz Viognier, which helped me come up with the answers when we played Wheel of Fortune. Couple large cockroachs began meandering about as it got dark. |
Froggy Mouth |
2017 | F - 3B from there where we were joined by Colleen for a visit and see the upgraded house.
2021 | W - Day 118 of Delta lockdown (6820 cases). We won $100 at Village Christmas draw that we didn't know was happening.
2022 | W - Covid cancelled David's trip here today. Park Street to have several tests done (field test for left eye - double dot with new prescription and one with old) and see Dr Chow who said that I don't have glaucoma.
