1970	Sa - From letter to Gail: "I miss candy bars, coffee, pies, cakes; you know, all the important stuff. I'm so hungry right now that I'm eating the local stuff - corned beef, tinned mackerel and taro... It has been raining the past few days and a cyclone is supposed to pass south of the islands tomorrow. One good thing is that it has cooled down to 70° for awhile. I checked my wing tips that I haven't worn in a month and they are all mouldy. Our matches don't light".
1972	Chapel - Epeli laid into the boys in Fijian on peeping toms, also no double beds, and no radios during work. Murphy hit in head by cane knife (boys throw them into mango tree in hopes of knocking some down).
1973	Got my first paycheck - after 3 years in Peace Corps ($F960/yr), get $4331 salary in NZ. Basketball - had another tumble and sprained my wrist.
1976	Mrs Dent brought over three ears of corn and said I could use her mower, so I finally did the lawn. Gail and I treated ourselves to a Coke®. David visited Micheski's on his own. Crossed the road and knocked on their door.
1981	Sa - Gail gave me a bag of candy kisses. I gave her crayons and caramellos (card.) Lunch at Uncle Barney's in Hudson, WI. I had a Monte Cristo. Sledding on local ski trails. Flying saucer was useless in the narrow confines. But we had fun with the other sleds.
1991	Did my normal health routine - rowing machine, my own set of exercises and then Aerobics OZ Style.
1997	F - Suprize 50th for Irene at Paul's. Her sister Judy flew over from Perth and while hiding in the house called. Then while talking to Irene she walked in and floored her. Ian and Susi even came.
1998	Sa - John Bethell showed us 6 places in Waiuku. Liked a new one next to Sandspit School, but it had no yard. Loved old large farmhouse off Bright Road in Akaaka which had large gardens and many out buildings including one that I could turn into an indoor basketball court.
2001	Watched Russell Crowe's "Gladiator". I didn't see any Academy Award acting and the digitizations were crude.
2003	Ne had what we used to call "candy kisses" for everyone. Now known as Brach's "Conversation Hearts" complete with an 'email me' heart. Ian brought us and Emery to TP at Bev's where we were joined by Janine and Gael Adams (lab tech from Rosehill).	kisses
2004	email from Irene - Ewen has an old school Mac and needs to know the password for At Ease! Like I would remember 6 years on.
2005	Brought Gail to Chin Wags in Clarks Beach for Valentine special meal - complementary champagne and rose. Gail had beef and I had salmon on squash/apricot mash and we are certain that they were the best quality items we ever had. I had a strawberry brulee. Six loud Americans kept things lively.
2009	Made a bogus Lionel Richie CD for Paul. Manurewa RSA for Paul's 60th. Spoke to Paul's amazing mother. Of course we hung out with the TP crowd. But I sat with Roger (mows lawns) and Sherry (Paul's best mate back in 60's). Paul and Irene hated/loved the phony CD.
2011	M - We had a Mountain Dew Code Red for a special drink.
2016	Su - Earthquake in CHCH and David's house shook.
2018	W - Gail and I went to Barrio Brothers for a meal with Sangrias. We brought heart-shaped churros.
2023	T - I gave Gail a box of chocolates. Brought out "Lost Cities" which we played twice. Then Catan.
2024	W - Gave Gail a Baileys Salted Caramel; she made me carrot cake. email from Clayton with wedding invitation. Card and letter from Trish. Played Catan. Had our first blackberry (very tart). Gardener went through the yard and decimated my Chilean guava. Had a 2022 Tipping Point Rosè with supper. Gym and pool (10) where I ran into the perfume from the people at the Valentines Dinner and Dance going on.
