1959 | I bought a pack of index cards and put classmates' data onto them. I also cut out their photo from class one and glued it onto the cards. [ed. - sadly, cards are gone].
1971 | Bandsma (in charge of mathematics curriculum) visited school and we covered theory and transformation geometry. He is impressed with David. Mitchell left in a huff over a few disagreements. Bandsma thinks he is jealous. McDougall thinks he's mad and I think he is stubborn. Can't accept "new Maths". Bandsma gave me a fatherly lecture on the dignity of man. The boys only think about Clay-Frazier these days - graffiti is rife. Whole culture has a worship of physical might. A rugby player is the elite in Fiji. Thinkers and desk men are pretty low on the ladder.
1973 | Gurmit Singh (without turban) and Epeli S drop in for the day. Visited McDougalls then checked out Ardmore where we couldn't find Epi or George so we watched the gliders a while. Home for a curry dinner and they left.
1979 | Sa - Walked to Sanders in the rain to watch Super Bowl highlights on their new colour TV. Gail brought along some KFC and we ate there. Our second win, $10, in lottery.
1980 | M - Te put a small plastic disc into his eye (he had seen Sanders put their contact lenses in when we were camping) so we brought him to the emergency doctor.
1984 | F - First Agricultural Package system meeting that I will develop to be run on Personal Computers in the Service Centers. John Steiner (a 60 year old user turned programmer) moved into my cubicle fresh out of class.
1990 | Bought a used 5'8" surfboard ($190) and a used boogie board ($29) at Sports Bazaar.
1996 | Sa - My birth certificate came from Vienna - I have proof at long last!
2006 | Leonie's to pick up her computer. Deon (who caught a white shark) gave me a pile of snapper filets. At New World I offered some of the fish to Susi and it was a lifesaver as she couldn't get any there and wanted to make kakada for Steve's party. . | Deon |
2018 | Sa - At 12:30AM I was watching Olympics when doorbell rang. So I ran to my room to get a shirt, came back and there was a small Asian women in the diningroom. She said: "Heather, 105?" So I put her straight. Saw that Gail's bedroom door was open...so I reckon the nurse must have looked in and saw a lady sleeping, not in pain.
2019 | Su - Walked to Bayfair to get a newspaper. Weeded backyard. After supper I went to 34OC for a couple hours of yardwork. Blog for details.
2023 | F - 85 minute walk along beach to Concord. Calendar and note from Jane so I shot back a birthday card and letter. 34OC to lift stones, lay bricks, weed and prune. Gym and pool (8).
