1967 | Met Bill, Laurie and Darryl and we were filmed at the Hub for a trial of a new milk flavoring drink called "Gorilla Milk". I had to give my feelings about each flavor and do comparison tasting. | |

1971 | Third movie in a row with the Hoffsis at the Phoenix - "Goodbye, Columbus". On the way to New Peking we ran into Emosi. He is thinner and usual self. Showed me a picture of his brother in Seattle. Introduced us to his partner, Josala Malsoroka, at Customs office. Jo Nalatu came by and bought us an ice cream. Ran into Mike Gawel and met his father. Blado joined us for chinese checkers. | |
1974 | Gail and I explored Nelson. Made the round of stores and bought books. Spent afternoon hiking up into the Grampians (1270'). Real swell doughnuts for lunch. Had dinner at Gourmet, then a walk through the Queen's Gardens with its ducks, roses and a sea gull sitting in the bird bath. Strolled down the Maitai River a ways. | |
1976 | Up at 6AM so I went for a five block run. Walked to school (17 minutes) - no one there so I waited until Sheryl Wallace showed up. She is getting married and moving to Sydney. Mr Jerkovich found me working in the Stationery Room and was very happy to have me back. Looked at my timetable and the SC results. Met Neil M, Eric A and Al Drumm. Worked until noon. Stopped in at Park's on my way home. Talked to Mrs and she was so glad to have me back, too! | Sheryl |
1978 | Greenhills picked up their belongings (we had stored them while they were overseas). Left Ne with Vicki. Aldies brought us to Auckland Cinerama to have a look at the movie that everyone is talking about: "Star Wars" (ticket). We came very close to being in a car crash, when Doug was in the wrong lane, (at the Wellesley Road motorway exit), and then swerved to get into the correct one. McDonald's for a treat. | |
1988 | Today it was Waimangu Valley. The weather was perfect for the hour walk to the bottom. Emerald lake has fizzled out but the rest was good value. Made it to Webster's Terrace and took a bus back to the top. I worked my way through Whakarewarewa forest from highway 5 to the Blue/Green Lakes only to find the gate locked. Took photos then managed to turn the van around in 6 moves without dropping down the cliff (video). Half an hour later at the same spot only this time we went through Rotorua like the other tourists. From there we went to the Buried Village. This time with video and we also did the waterfalls which was great. Path went through tunnels and a cave (video). Got us back to Golden Springs at 6PM. 1990 | Left Wairoa and took the gravel roads to Lake Waikaremoana. First stop was Onepoto where we spent 2 hours exploring caves (video). One cave was a bit of a challenge (video). Quick stop at nearby motor camp so David could buy a patch. Te Urewera Park HQ for lunch, visitors' center (video) and then tramp to three waterfalls: Bridal Veil (video), Totarapapa Falls and Papakorito and Aniwaniwa (video). Drove to Rotorua, stopping at Totarapapa Falls for a snack and stretch. Supper at Pizza Hut, then home stopping at Hamilton for petrol, ice cream and wash the van. | Onepoto |
1991 | Snuck out while kids were sleeping to meet Gail at the airport. Breakfast at Denny's, then a couple hours soak in hot pool at Miranda. Brought her home and she handed out gifts. Goofy watch for me, Ne's big bear from Grandma and 2 computer games for David. | |
1993 | Women and dogs left in van at 12:30PM. David drove me and Matthew to K Valley. Set up big tent at site 21. Girls, in Sanders tent, at opposite end (#2). Dogs uncontrollable. Cabbie broke chains twice. | |
1995 | Whites. Susi back from Fiji with sugar cane, ivi and druka. Gave her the huge wine glass and cask (from Dad). Played bridge then cricket. | |
1998 | W - Whites stopped in on way back from ear specialist. Pio didn't need a hearing aid - specialist removed wax for $180 and bingo he can hear again!Watched Black Caps beat OZ 252 - 251 in last over. | |
2001 | After supper kids and I went to Whites to join Kaitanis (sans Neli who is in Fiji where they have just bought a dairy farm) for Steve and Sally's last night before heading back to Nauru. | Kelcie |
2002 | David brought Ne and Titania to Awhitu where they will camp for a few days. Gail went off to nurseries with Ian and Susi. Stephanie had a needle go into her foot in the back yard and almost fainted on me after the fact. | |
2003 | Returned the car. Discovered a downtown mall and had a good mosey. Gail bought a sweater, at Miller's, as the weather had turned cold and wet (I had told her to bring a jacket, but she didn't, eh?). We called Joyce to let her know everything is good with Gail. Gail went to hospital for her second dose of radiation. | |
2005 | email from Woody who is paying big $$ to divorce lawyers. Graeme came to measure up the deck. Brought him to Brundell's to see what work might available there. Back home for lunch outside and catch up on each other's lives. Elaine came for a swim - Bob in ICU after his heart op. Gail and I to Emery's to look at her trip photos and hear the story of their Christmas bus tour at hotel Fawlty in York. | |
2009 | Tried a Goody Goody Gumdrops on way in to Middlemore to see Gail who says that she will be there for another week. Met roomie, Marianne Kirk, an elderly lady who raised greyhounds. Visited Helen, talked to Annette on phone and played with David when the family came. | |
2014 | T - Called Dad for a short talk about our medical problems. The Goldbergs so funny that I watched it 3 times. | |
