1970 | Dave Woodward, Ian and Susi White picked me up at NTC. details.
1972 | Landed in Fiji at 6AM. Got through customs (QVS old boy). Flew to Nausori. Ian, Susi, Steve, Bob B and Bob Snow picked me up. Meal at New Peking and got home at 5PM. Murph brought my stuff up and drove me down to get my mail. Hargrove and Rams came to see me. Bob and I set up the fridge (bought it from McDougall for $50). Played Passout until 10:30PM - only made it around 4 times.
1985 | F - Cindy Chopski babysat as we went to Shusterich's for stroganoff, a good wine and our Fiji and their Yugoslavian slides.
1986 | Sa - Gail went to Breeze's to get some boxes we will store for them. Doug and I trailered over my den stuff and last of stuff in garage. We cleaned the house and left 29 KE for the last time around noon. Heavy rain so decided to just leave stuff in trailor under a cover. Set up Ne's room. Doug backed trailer into 29KE garage door frame. He also backed a trailer into our car, denting the bumper.
1991 | Bridge at Whites then Karioitahi for cricket and surfing - only ones there as it was drizzly. White's for a hot curry and viewing slides on Ian's $3 screen. Bridge - Susi and I made a redoubled 5 club bid. Walked to BMX park.
1998 | Su - Whites' to farewell Steve and Sally. Saki, Linda, Rebecca, Kaitanis and Ian Hendry were there along with a couple of Steve's Electrical Engineering buddies from uni: Noel (Papua New G) and Sonny (Fijian Indian). Got them to explain 3-phase to me.
2000 | T - Did the Raiti Falls Walk (one hour along a dirt road) which is halfway between Opoutere and Whangamata. Had lunch there. Senad into the pool but too cold for the rest of us. Gail, David and dogs left after a supper in the rain. We played backgammon and dominoes.
2001 | Doug arrived with his cow-dunged sandals (thanks to James). He made a spectacular come-from-behind victory in "Rock Fever".
2003 | Up early so Salve could drive us to airport for our 9:50AM flight to Christchurch where we had 30 minutes to kill. Next leg to Nelson was on a small 19 seater - no stewardess - just a pilot, and we were really rocked around by a gusty southernly. Back onto a more sizeable plane to get us to Auckland at 1:30PM. De-plane just when a heavy gusty rain hit and I actually slipped on the steps out the plane. Brundell called to thank David for fixing his computer, but spoke to everyone except David. Ian came by to get van so he could return a mattress and David's bike. Played 8 ball with Ne, then Upwords with her and Gail. | Nelson |
2004 | Steve and Sally's new place in Pukekohe. Ian, Susi, Jackie (who now works at New World), Tracy and Scott were there for the meal followed by a game of Cranium. David kept the mini Whites entertained. |
|
2007 | Drove over to Victor Harbor and walked the causeway to and around Granite Island, not taking the Clydesdale tram over. Followed a group of young Japanese who didn't do the "V" fingers when having photo taken. It was a 1.6km trek around it with rock climbing not allowed. We didn't see any penguins. Went to AJ's Coffee Lounge for lunch. I had a Mochiato with my toasted croissant. Gail bought a swim suit while I wander through the shops. Annsells had us over for a de Bortoli while they answered our questions about living in Australia. |
|
2009 | Checked Gail's email before calling her and there was an email from Cheryl saying that Joyce had been in hospital for 3 days with lung infection and she is now in Sleepy Eye Care Center. Joyce seems to be getting weaker and weaker. Gail now in same room with Helen Wright.
2013 | F - We brought Muppet to Colleen's and home for the night. The usual snacks on picnic table and throwing a ball around with the boys. Blair calls me "Little John".
2019 | F - Gail and I went to Houghton's where Russell joined us for takeaways and then Trivial Pursuit. We also watched a charity cricket match that included rugby players.
2020 | Sa - My favorite Trivago commercial that drives Gail crazy: see it.
2023 | W - Went through the yard with John discussing what needs to be cut back and needs to be removed for the new boundary fence installation. After supper I did a prune and began emptying the shed.
