Adelaide to Canberra |
Worst part of the trip for me - 16 hour bus ride starting at 8:30PM last night and I didn't sleep. Around 1AM we stopped at a gas station in Ouyen, Victoria for half an hour. Around 3:30AM the bus stopped in the
middle of nowhere to pick up a passenger. We had breakfast at 7AM in a motel in Jigellie, NSW. Sat through Three Amigos and then boring desert plains and rain until we hit Snowy Mountains around 10:30AM.
Got into Canberra at 12:45PM and Paul Lees was there in flip-flops and his orange station wagon. Pointed out sites as we drove to his house in the suburbs. No lawn as there is no soil. Galahs galore in back yard. Paul's father, Dan, (a surprize visitor) and Karen's mother, Ev, both staying so we are putting a crimp into things for them. After lunch they went shopping, Gail went to bed, David to the computer and Ne to the piano. I went through Canberra brochures. Letter to James Alderson for his "butt day". After supper the Lees went to a movie on Northern Territories and the Maleceks went to bed. I was impressed with the bottles labelled from 1972 in the wine cellar only to find that they were refilled with cheap bulk stuff. |
