10th	11th	12th
1968	Cards at Dan's who is living on the second floor of his Grandmother's house. This put the idea of moving from home into my mind. Les and I beat Darrell and Dan in cribbage.
1978	Su - Day 2 of Sec School Districts at Onehunga. Found out that for some strange reason the loser of this game would go onward to the Regional tournament. But there was no way I caould tell a team to lose. We discussed it and I reminded the team what Aorere's coach had said about Rosehill, and me. We had a vote and only Dean wanted to lose on purpose. We beat them 56-52 (summary), without Alderson, our best rebounder. I called Steve and begged him to come for the next game. He wouldn't and I went home in tears. After a coffee it was back for the final game. Nigel and Wayne were heckling the ref, Slack, from the bleachers and he called a technical, awarding the other team, Edgewater, two shots. Totally illegal - no such rule. We trailed by as many as 8 points, but in the last two minutes made a great comeback and were up by 1 with a minute to play. Edgewater scored and with 30 seconds to go we were down by 1. Timeout and we set up a play which saw George making a 15 foot jump shot putting us ahead 57-56 (summary). Then we intercepted the ball and held onto it to the whistle and won. Everyone went crazy. Edgewater's coach came over and congratulated me. Then Slack comes over and tells me that we lost because the scorekeeper hadn't entered the final basket on the scoresheet. Stephen Walls, the exchange student from Australia, came to watch the game and volunteered to do the scoring. He was so thrilled when we scored that he was up cheering with everyone else. We were the only team in the tournament to win three (if you count this one) games and we weren't into the Regionals. [ed. - This cruelty of the ref, Slack, who hated our supporters, led to my breakdown and depression].
1980	W - Took aptitude test for Brown Technical School [ed. - computer course]. Aced it - 82/85 - to qualify you need 45 and 60 is consider to be A-grade. The fellow was impressed saying it was the highest score he had seen.
1981	Th - We had Streasicks over with Inez's sister, Vicky. After a meal Chuck, David I and went to Bloomington where we picked up a washer & drier for $25 from their friend, Jan. Hard pull getting them up the stairs and then it was raining, but we made it and set them up in the basement. Coffee and strawberry shortcake.
1983	Sa - Got the time wrong for Frank and Libby's wedding at the Cathedral of St Paul and had to enter through a side door in full view of everyone (it started at 10:30AM - I thought it was 11AM). Asked Eliason if he had any big news to tell me. Met Chris Faust and Rick Aschman. Classy reception at St Paul Hotel, which had an over-abundance of everything. I had three glasses of wine before the food arrived. Sat with Greens and had Chicken Oscar and a champagne sherbert.
1986	W - Kids were baptized at St Mary's with Sanders as God-Parents. Bensons, Aldersons and Clarks in attendance. Kathy read from Ezekial. Gail read from John. About 30 mins altogether. James was ready to go to Malley's at 4:30PM, but it didn't start until 7PM. Everyone including Father Ryder over for tea/coffee. James hung with David the whole time and gave him a big kiss when they left. Freezer and two heaters on blew a fuse so we had Father bless the house. Kids got posters from Clarks and pendants from Sanders. Ne got a picture frame (card) and David a pen from Aldersons.
1988	Mary and Owen came and filled us in on what to do and where to go in Australia.
2008	Up at 8AM, so I could bring Stephanie to the airport (off to France). She gave me a Goofy book. Berthe's for a few hours on the computer. She was having trouble with what is a washing machine and what is a dish washer.
2021	F - email from Hoffsis saying that Mark S has died. Russell called - we will have tickets for the only Warriors home game this year (it never happened) AFL: Another upset - Bombers down by 29 to Eagles and go on to win by 16.
2023	Su - Brought David to airport and then got a shower hose at Bunnings and installed it. Watched Warriors 36 - Canberra 14 - Johnson had a great game (highlights). AFL: Dockers had a big upset over Melbourne 79 - 72 in a hard hitting match (highlights).
