Blackout Weekend  Meaning no "English" - Hindi only.  16 of us were taken to Papakeo State Park set inbetween the two volcanoes.  Bleak, rough road with only broken lava to be seen.  Poor Bob Merce, he knew no Hindi at all.  The place we stayed was ultra- modern.  We got up a football game which upset Jas as we should be doing Fiji stuff like soccer.  I didn't particularly care for the group I was with plus there were a few Hilo guys thrown in.  We divided into families - mine was Suni's.  Of course the Hindi speaking didn't last too long; a couple of us tried, but it was a farce.  We spent the first evening around the fireplace listening to Jeff Siegle tell us about Fiji and playing Hindi card games.

The highlight had to be that we were afforded hot showers, HOT.  I took three a day.  With the highlights there has to be low ones.  The Mortons and Perrys were sharing the same bedroom and a fight ensued over something and the Mortons left early.  Seems ironic as they were both posted to Labasa.
