Und So It Begins The only fact I have for today is that we had a TB Test - negative. Today we began our lessons and days now merge in to a mush. So I will be generalizing here just a bit. I'll cover Hindi Language lessons. We alternated weeks with Jas and Joyce. My first group consisted of Bette Thomas, Peter Johnston, Dianne Hoffsis, Mark Schiffer and Bryce Perry. We had Jaswant Lal; he reminded me of my uncle Bernie. He is 24 and king of clowns, never a dull moment. He is very animated in teaching. [ed. - a style that could describe my own]. Diane was the best in our group and in the first weeks a rivalry developed between her and myself. I would give her glances when she was speaking and laugh at her when she made a mistake. Mark, the quiet one, perhaps because he was sleeping, was always underrated. He would mumble his answers and then drift back off. Peter was the odd one. He continually disrupted the classes with assinine questions or completely irrelavent remarks. The whole class was upset with him, Mark and I especially. We got a big kick out of him and would steal glances to each other over him. Bryce was the slow one because of a speech impediment. He couldn't roll his "r"s, and there is a lot that in Hindi. Finally, there was little Bette who was interested in cooking and thus spurred Jas to create the catch phrases "makes good soup" and "best part of the fish". This happened one lesson in one of the huts when we saw a lizard. Jas tried to convince us that in Fiji they make soup out of it, and spider gravy etc...
