60

Anyone who has seen MalleyGram 2006-5 probably figured out that I am 60 this year. It happened on December 3rd. Knowing how ancient SIXTY is (maybe not as Trish kept telling me that 70 is the new 60) I decided to have my party on the 2nd so I would be younger and able to handle it. And what a wonderful turnout we had. In most cases I see these friends on a regular basis but having them all come at the same time made it special. And it was an opportunity for them to maybe meet someone new.

The White family (which we consider to be part of [excuse the grammar]) were the first to arrive. And all the way from the Isle of Arran in Scotland came Ian's sister, Heather, and Mary. We visited them in 1997 and it was so good to see them once again. Mini Whites gave mescan solar flashing garden lights which I have set up along the swimming pool stone feature. Each night I can look out my window and see them in action. Ian's brilliant card included a music quiz, which I never got to do on the day, as someone new would arrive before I could sit down and do it. But when I did do it several days later I managed to get 100%. Try it yourself.

There was a good turnout from our Trivial Pursuit group. I can almost forgive Paul for his age jokes because of the photobeautiful storage box that he and Irene gave me. Word is out that Gail loves it so I don't think it shall remain in my keeping for long. The Eastie Sisters win the prize for the most appropiate card. Ann and Russell gave me a voucher that I used to get The Black Eyed Peas' "Monkey Business" CD. Christopher out did himself with this year's card. I don't know if making me look like Jack Nicholson is a good or bad thing.

A complete stranger came. Joan brought along Kaitlin who was spending the day with her. But she wasn't the youngest; that honor belonged to David at 3 months who came with his mother, Fiona and grandparents, John and Helen. Biggest surprize arrival would be Berthe, who we haven't seen much of since she moved all the way to Pukekohe, eh?
