Bechyn Czech Festival
Back in the 1950's an 60's I would attend the Church picnic, which was held at the back of the church. Uncle Charlie's family manned the ice cream stand. I can still see the very large tubs of the stuff wapped by think insulation materail. I also remember that there was a baseball field (in 1997 it was a corn field) complete with a backstop. Softball games were played at the picnic. My father remembers playing first base in the late 1930's. No glove and once when he tried to catch the ball he damamged his left-hand middle finger and ended his career.

In 1992 the Church was to be shut down. The Presevation Committee was formed and the Church picnic/carnival became an annual CZECH HERITAGE FESTIVAL
