1960 | We found hairless baby squirrel that had fallen out of a cottonwood tree in Fair's yard and Kincy brought it home.
1961 | High = 74°F. Bill and I were in the garage attic and Squeaky bit him.
1965 | North Star Lake: drove to north side of lake to rent a boat and motor and spent the day fishing in our favorite spot, Silver Dollar Bay, but not much luck.
1968 | Steve, Kincy and I left North Star lake after a few days there. Click to see photos.
1972 | Suva with Whites. Had lunch at Biddy's Steakhouse (upstairs) - nice looking place but slow service. Stopped for supper at Nausori and ran into Gene and met his Fijian wife Mere.
1980 | M - Mom took the kids to Fort Snelling for a tour. Gail and I picked up the bunk bed ($80) and got keys to Londin Lane place in Maplewood. Paint on carpet and woodwork. Got a trailer at 35th and Nicollet and loaded it up with stuff from Angi's. Brought it to the townhouse. McDonalds for lunch. Chris' - he gave us his TV, a chair and end tables. Mom's to get more of our stuff. She filled her car and came along to see the place. Little colored boy wanted to carry everything in. Met Rick Carrington. Drove back to Mom's without the trailer to watch Vikings and get more stuff. I got back at 10:30PM. Tried to go to bed at 1AM, but guy next door was choking a woman in parking lot making a lot of noise. |

1990 | Took the Red Trolley to border at San Ysidro and walked across with thousands of others to Tijuana (video). Took a taxi to Avenue Revolucion, which is blocks of shops and markets with each place having pretty much the same items (video). US$1 = 290,000 pesos making prices seem very high. On this trip I wanted Goofy items and I was able to find a marionette that kinda looks like ther real thing? Gail came to get leather. She bought a jacket (bargained down from $260 to $160), purse, wallet and some jewellry (video). I bought a Kahlua for $6.50 and a Cuban cigar for Ian. One wicked taxi ride back to the border - white knuckle stuff. Headed east, but ended up at Mexican border and lost an hour getting back to the right road. The scenery went through many changes, although all were based upon the size of rocks with little vegetation. Produce check at the CA-AZ border. Dark at 7PM as we pulled into Yuma. Checked in to Royal Motor Inn and got two rooms. Had a late supper at Sizzler (SHRIMP!). Back to the pool and spa (air temp = 97°F) (video). |

1994 | Doug called saying he needed a lift. I went to the surgery and he filled the upper front tooth. Off to KFC and home to listen to his Bob Marley album on Ne's new stereo. Then RnR TP until 9PM and I gave him a lift home.
1997 | M - Day 42 of our 3 month journey around the world. See 1997 Trip Photo Journal.
2001 | Warriors match with Ann, Russell and Chris on crutches. Solid defense saw them take down the Roosters 14 - 8.
2002 | Up at 8:50AM - Dad drove us to Bechyn via 212 with a detour at Hector. Amazingly, we arrived the same time as Chris, Angi, Celia and Mom. Read my report and/or go to the official website. I left at 6PM and drove to Gail's aunt Patty's place in New Ulm. Paul, Gwynne, Amber and Alex came over to visit - off to Milacs campground tomorrow. They drove me past Joyce's new digs on the way to the Lamplighter Bar where we had a meal (I had club sandwich with waffle potatoes and a ruben soup). Waitress read my "I found my way home to Bechyn" button and asked me if I had been to the festival. Her husband is a Horejsi. Blew Bob away as he couldn't find Bechyn on his map. Visited until 11:30PM then I tried to hook up to the internet and failed. |

2003 | Up at 7:30AM as roofer called to say they were on their way (two Indian fellows arrived at 10:30AM). Spoke to Marcia and found out Doug is in bad shape after the two weeks in the States. Pak 'n Save to get some Ginger Kisses for Dougie. Doug's to do the Blaster thing for his laptop, see trip photos, have a wine and just be there. Last stop at Trish's where I ended up talking to Dot on the phone.
2004 | Pukekohe to see Dr. Mora and give him $70 in exchange for an eye exam. Then $31 to Transport NZ to get a new driver's license that says I don't need glasses. Graeme called and told me about his trip to Canada.
2007 | Gail and I went to stay the night with Elaine. Had a Harvey's Bristol Cream sherry before the meal for which I opened a Saints '05 Cabernet Merlot. We taught Elaine Upwords. I stayed up until 2AM to watch Warriors lead the whole game only to lose.
2011 | Th - Picked up my Forest Green pajamas from Sunset and then we met with Shaun Bellamy and went over the Ocean Shores OSA (took an hour).
2017 | F - Today, with David, it was Lewis & Clark. I brought out Istanbul Coffee expansion which we all enjoyed. After a fish supper we played Mythotopia. Affogatos and finished with Terraforming Mars.
2020 | T - Picked up my hearing aids ($4687) and now I hear the keys and mouse click as I type this. Kellie (Countdown) had to ask if I were American or Canadian. AFL: Watched lowly Dockers beat top 8 Magpies.
2021 | W - Day 1 of lockdown. Russell called to chat about Warriors. AFL: Bombers shot down 1st place Bulldogs - Peter Wright had 7 goals. I called US Social Security after midnight...(twice) first time to find out that weren't open as stated on website and each time I had to sit through 8 minutes of recorded messages at 50¢/min.
2022 | Th - David ( with long hair) flew in for the weekend. Lili saw him as a new toy. We had fish 'n chips and then a couple games of Wing Span.
2023 | F - Drove to Russell's and from there to "Daniel Anderson Stadium" (spine damage surfing). I got Lebanese kebabs @ $20/each. Warriors down at half but held Eagles scoreless in 2nd half and with a last minute try won 29 - 22 (highlights). 6 wins in a row - first time since 2007. Ben took off his coat right after Warriors scored a try so I asked him if he was going to remove an article of clothing each time we scored. 24,000+ so long time getting on the motorway, got to Russell's at midnight and home at 2AM (temp was 2°C).
