1980 Th - Drove to Rochester only to be given run around by Crenlo. Clint thought that I had an interview lined up for tomorrow, so I stayed the night at the Silver Lake Motel [ed. - since converted into low cost housing]. Got a hold of Mustain and organized an interview for tomorrow.
1984 T - NZ Embassy called and informed us that we must apply to get back into NZ.
1985 W - Yosemite - Ne must have slipped off during the night because we found her sleeping on the wooden floor of the tent. It had snowed during the night and drizzled all day long. We broke camp and drove over to the store where David bought a patch and Ne got a canteen. Then Visitors Center for a talk on the park. Drove over to "4 mile trail" and went as far as could - the trail was closed but we went anyway. Got to a point where there was snow and the trail was washed away. Not too tough of a walk, we got high up quickly. Long drive back through Modesto and a different looking countryside. Arrived at Hoffsis with a migraine - took cafergot for the first time and it seemed to work. Curry meal followed by chit-chat. Gave them kiwi jam, Golden eagle card, Bureaucracy game, Tongan masi and book on Yosemite.

1986 Th - Alan and I went to Powercorp. Saw what is said to be the worst accident on the motorway. A car crossed the median and went into the front of a bus. Martin Spencer spent time with us assuring that we are important to them. Tour of the new building. Richard Veber joined us for a meeting where we hashed out our problems over a sandwich lunch. Chris called and he is happy that Regan bombed Libya.
Veber
1991 Brought Gail to emergency doctor (Ratcliff) at 8PM and they put her onto a ventolin nebulizer for 15 minutes. She is now officially asthmatic. Urgent chemist for 6 drugs ($53).
1992 Whites. Ian, Jackie, Gail and I went for a walk along Karioitahi Rd past Isola. After supper we had a couple games of bridge.
1993 Went to Selwyn Hospital for three hours of RnR Trivial Pursuit with Doug. He wouldn't let me hug him. Still can't handle responsibility-type thoughts and negativity looms within him. Gave him the Phil Spectre book, Out of His Head.
1998 F - Brought Peter to Rosehill, but Dawn not in, so we chatted with Don Rolle and Karl. SAC to meet Granichs and listen to James Last (Fluffy and Peter both crazy about his music). New World so he could meet Lianne. Hunter's Corner to have Georgie Pie for lunch. Looked at videos of Ve and Peter. He shouted Gail and I to a meal upstairs at Annabelle's Sister on Tamaki Drive. Had a very good Montana '96 Cabernet/Merlot with the meal.
2003 Lance Janes came by to look at roof and tell me he'd be happy to do it for $11,000.

Up to the ringing chorus of "what you doing?" from Kelcie. Drove to Rawene (Ian really likes the first paragraph of the brochure and website. I think they should add "Take a leak") and did the Mangrove walk and some of the biggest I have ever seen (looked like trees and aged at 70 years). Tried to get into the gaol but it ws closed. It is where NZ's last uprising prisoners were kept - they were protesting a "dog tax". Stopped at hospital to read about Dr Smith who was a one man army in getting things done in the Hokianga. Then it was Kaikohe for lunch in a park where we were entertained by the local skateboarders. Then down the road west, a bit, to Ngawha Hot Springs. Truly a "for locals" type of place as it had no showers (due to lack of water) nor towels for hire but only $4 to get in. Everyone except Susi tried the 15 different (colors, temperature, muddiness, bubbles) pools and generally agreed by the adults that the hottest at 47°C was the best. Seemed to help Steve's back. Ian, Gail and I stopped at a marae to check out the cannons (no historic meaning, just bought by a local from a British ship) and to see Kupe's stone (said to be his anchor). Left my camera bag at marae entrance so I had to drive back for it. Gail and I walked the beach to the Opononi Beach Takeaways for fish and chips. I was skunked then it was bridge.

2012 T - Ian got a fantastic parking spot. Minis had to walk from Leisure Island. Climbed the Mount with the Minis and Ian. Maddy was removing kutus from Christian's head (video). Meanwhile the two women did the lower circuit. Gave Susi a tour of the village and then we played petanque. Steve and kids came over for Dominion and other games. Ne joined and Steve only won once. Susi and I shared Brown Bros '09 Tempranillo that was excellent.
2015 F - Up at 6AM to go to Grace Hospital where Lisa had a hard time going through the forms with me. Gail had enough and went home. I then had to wait an hour before Wardill (anaeth) saw me and I went into theatre for my BNI. Woke in recovery by Sarah. Dawn (daughter has CFS) brought me to my private room. Gail came in the afternoon to hear Westenberg say that a stricture at the neck needs to be removed, a possible one at the penis end and that my bladder is distended. Couldn't hear the TV so I finished reading Funny Foreign Stories.
2016 Su - Boys over for China. Confusion in number of laps for Formula 1 left Kim and Clayton out of sorts. Max made 4 rice dishes with a stir fry meal for us. And he brought along an apple pie that a lady gave him. All that didn't count for much as he lost both his cars in the Formula D race. Meanwhile, the phenom, Kim, came 1st and 2nd.
2017 M - Gail bought a 55" TV and we sold our 50" to Desli. Onwards to Venus and I brought out Survive - Giant Squid expansion. Watched "Less Than Perfect" episode The Vacation.
2020 F - Day 23 of Lockdown. Slept the afternoon away. email from Smithers, who are missing out on a trip to Hawaii. The buzzing/humming noise on my left ear went away shortly after the B12 yesterday. Watched Broken Arrow and Shakiest Gun in the West. Colored a Goofy page.
2021 Sa - Was up all night with left arm pain. Left arm hurting on and off so I had Ne bring us to the hospital where a ECG and blood tests showed nothing wrong with my heart according to Dr Durey. It took four hours and Ne and Kizzie waited in the car. We hit Wendy's to get a very late supper. AFL: Saints down by 33 played a torrid last quarter to win by 20 over the Eagles (Highlights).
