1973 | Anare and Filipe came via bus. We had lunch and then went for a walk around Papakura. They are both doing architecture. After supper they left on the 6:45PM bus. | Anare |
1979 | Sa - Lamorna babysat and we went to a surprize birthday party for Chendrah. Aldersons were there with about 20 other people. Met Tony Poole, who is an inspector and knew quite a few people at Rosehill. Met Catherine, who lived in Fiji. Chen put my triple cross 3D puzzle together. | |
1980 | M - High of 94°F broke old record by 10°. Gail's first day of work at Super Valu deli. | |
1982 | W - Called home to get Mehus' address. Ne also picked up and we told her 'goodbye' - waited - she was still on so we told her to hang up and she said: "I did!". | |
1985 | Su - 8AM flight to Honolulu. Stored our bags and bussed into town. Got off at Ala Moana Park to look at a craft sale and ended up staying to watch young girls of the Aloha Pani Waihii Group perform many island dances. Walked to Waikiki Beach stopping at so MANY shops but they all have the same stuff. As we were going to the beach a fellow said he had overheard our accents and wondered if we were from Minnesota. He had lived in Cottage Grove, before moving to Hawaii 4 years ago! Sat on the beach and watched the surfers. Great supper at Fernando's. Gail and I had teriyaki steak and I had my first MaiTai which was very tasty. Wandered the International Market under the Christmas lights for a couple hours then bussed to the airport. Bought a mango and a lychee ice cream and they were terrible. Boarded at 1AM. Others went right to sleep, but I had a meal (Corbans Claret) and watched "The UnderGrads". | Mauna Kea Waikiki see hula photos |
1989 | Fisherman's Table with the Breezes where I couldn't get calamari! Pukekohe Golf club for a Las Vegas evening. Fund raiser for a Rosehill netball team going to Argentina. Sanders, Jones, Todds plus a few other familiar faces. $10 bought $50,000 fun money to use on Crown and Anchor, Overs and Unders, roulette and horse racing. I blew that $50,000 and bought $200,000 and managed to lose that. Others did well and we pooled our winnings at $54 million. Donated items were auctioned. We didn't have a show with our measely amount. Got 5 music cassettes. Gail and I got Alison Moyet's Raindancing and Pink Floyd's A Momentary Lapse of Reason. | |
2004 | Audrey came by for drinks, meal and visit. Brought along an excellent Matua cab sav-shiraz. Had a fire in a bedroom, put Allie down and now has a puppy foxie named Sally Sue. Told us about her childhood - being shipped out of London at start of WWII and getting stuck with Phillip. How she was in a building that fell apart from nearby bombing. Went on to join WACS where she met her husband. Has a wild Maori friend, Eva, who once got them in trouble for taking bread loaves late one night from a rack outside a store. Cops stopped them as Eva was stashing them under car seat. | |
2005 | Bruce Campbell dropped off some freshly caught fish that we had for supper. | |

2014 | M - Paul and Irene arrived around 4PM. We had a a 2012 Makaraka Pinot Noir with supper then played a few games of Survive. The gave us a large Easter egg and Irish whiskey cream filled chocolates. Paul and I chatted until 1:30AM. | |
2016 | Th - Played Patchwork on Ian's iPad and then I crashed. After supper we played "7 Wonders", had affogatos (pumpkin pie for me) and played Mythotopia until 12:30AM. Ian and I talked until 2AM. | |
