1960 Mama, Chris and I went to Keller Drug for breakfast, then Sears where I bought an infielder's glove for $33.
1973 $US1410 check from Peace Corps for termination. Letter from Labour Dept saying we are permanent residents. Finished the bookshelf at woodwork night class and carried it home.
1978 Su - Went to Clark's Beach in the afternoon for the first time. Then the Sanders came over for a cuppa and visit.
1980 W - Sears to organize Allstate car insurance and the fellow there remembered us from 1975 (because he is also a Czech with a name like Svobda). Ne stopped the escalator while waiting around. Went to Angi's and over to lake to feed ducks.
1984 M - 10" of snow, which at 98.6" (8 feet) for the season is a new record (snow report). I got stuck in the driveway. Almost went into a ditch on Tower, many cars stuck and had to go via Woodlane Drive.
1985 T - Ian drove us to Nadi - we left at 12:30AM, kids in back sleeping. Stopped at Sigatoka for a beer break. Got to airport at 4:30AM. Plane left at 8AM. Got into Auckland at 11AM - zipped through and the Sanders, Trish and James waiting. Sanders for lunch. Called Doug White and Nadine (BNZ) about our US check. Doug called. Had a smooth Penforld claret and a very good Cook's muller-thurgau. Kids on bunks in lounge. Gail and I in Lia's room.
Nadi
1987 Dragged from Team Briefing because Taharoa wanted their computer. So I wasn't in the room when JV announced my promotion. Told JV I needed a break. Mrs Rissman offered 100's of books so Gail and Ne went to get them. Car wouldn't start. AA came and couldn't fix it - so left car there.

1988 Helped Clarks move to Wellington Ave. Two van loads of magazines. Peter, Leighton and Marjorie also on hand. Beautiful place, first class workmanship, big rooms heaps of woodwork. Big rooms. Two buildings out back, each a self contained unit. Two bathrooms in house and one in a unit. Spa, fruit trees, view. Home with four speakers and a 3-drawer cabinet and measuring tape for my efforts. Back to Clark's with popcorn, Mello Yello and Nicola Todd. Set up the stereo and video gear. Also had very good '84 Cab Shirazs by Stanley and Blass. Watched Yellow Beard video - well, Clarks fell asleep so we just let ourselves out.
1995 Whites and for a walk up a hill near Otaoa and met two ladies walking 3 rottweillers. Great Fijian meal and then the San Marino Grand Prix which Ian won.
2005 Gail and I went to Yris' for a pizza lunch with and an Esk '03 rosé. Got their DVD player going. First time there - east of Pollok, an old house with goats in the paddock. Kjell from Norway. All of us went to Aldies for a last meal at Jesmond Road. Brought along letter Trish wrote in '81 describing their first month there. Finished evening with a rum baba cake. Allison called and told Trish to pass on to me that the girl who won the had the biggest feet she ever saw. Trish gave me Doug's Monty Python album.
2007 Berthe's lovely place in Pukekohe and met her landscaper, Richard. Got broadband going.
2008 Ian stopped in to say farewell to David and borrow chain saw. I beat David 5 times at pool - he used to be much better. Gail and I brought him to the airport and saw him off at 6:30PM.
2023 On the road at 11:30AM. Got to Emery's at 2PM. On and off rain until I got to Auckland where it was non-stop. Even got wet sitting undercover in the stands. Terrible game Warriors losing 14 - 0 and yes, quite a few blatantly wrong calls by ref, Cummings. Anne's yard is now all bushes with pebble paths. Double glazed, solar panels make the place cozy at $65/month. Caught up family news - Christopher in Tasmania.
