1965 | North Star Lake: Explored the logging trails. Marcel to Steve's uncle's store/cafe/laundromat. Brought his cousin back to the tent for the night and played poker. I won 35¢.
1968 | North Star Lake: We spent the day clearing out the area surrounding the shed. In the evening we played cards and gave Kincy a bottle of champagne for his birthday.
1978 | W - 3T/N helped set up the room for Open Evening. Jenny May helped me finish it off after school until 5:15PM. Meanwhile John, Tracy and Michael put up the speaker. I showed Gail and kids my room before rushing off to the radio station. We played "Peir Gynt" and then "The Sting" albums. Tracy and Adrienne took turns at the mike. Robson impressed and said we did a great job. | My Room |
1984 | Th - First day downtown. Spent the morning unpacking and setting up the PC. Letter from Auckland agency saying that I have an interview at 10:30AM on the Monday. Open house so we went to see "The Muppets Take Manhattan" at Cottage Grove for $1 each (but two small popcorns cost $3).
1990 | High = 80°F. Hertz and picked up our Ford Taurus. Picked up the kids and found Hobby City [ed. - being leveled in 2007 map] where we stopped for brunch at the Restaurant Next Door to the White House (half size replica and held a toy and doll museum). Excellent meals at very low prices, so didn't mind having to tip. Hit K-mart to spend $242 (I got a couple shirts). The clerk thought we were from OZ judging from what we were buying. I particularly liked the Crest sparkle toothpaste. Water vending machine, root beer liquour and I counted 21 brands of Zinfandel. We had lunch at Buena Park McDonalds that had model trains operating on several levels (video) and Super Size Coke® cup - 7" high. Back at the hotel we went for a swim. Ne and I went to a fantastic putt putt course, Golf n Stuff at 9PM. Immaculately clean but the holes were mostly volcano cones - I won 49 - 53 even with Ne getting 3 hole-in-ones. |

1997 | Sa - Day 40 of our 3 month journey around the world. See 1997 Trip Photo Journal.
2000 | W - Gail told that she has a tumor in her ear.
2003 | Gail picked Doug and Marcia up back from States. Ian visited.
2006 | Toyota in Manukau and and bought a 2004 Echo from Dennis Gray.
2008 | Went to the Warrior game and watched the Juniors win as did the big boys, 18 - 4 over the Sharks. There was a fireworks display before the game. Fellow behind me picked on me being a Yank, pulled my hat off and almost destroyed my glasses with his hands. A Samoan fellow in front of me got so happy after a try that he shook my hand, so I was truly in the thick of it.
2009 | Su - Listened to the Twins 11 - Indians 0 (Scott Baker shut out).
2013 | F - Gail and I went to Colleen's and met her sister Jenny. Heard about Omamru (Steampunk) while sipping a Selaks '11 Pinot Noir. Stayed to watch news coverage of the 6.6 earthquake at Seddon.
2018 | Th - Colleen's to straighten out her computer and admire her new green sofa (a failed downsize as it is bigger than old one). Same thing happened to us when I brought the Colt from Heather's to our garage - its bigger than the Yaris.
2022 | T - Had Bayaudio look at my non-functioning left hearing aid. Hayden replaced a tube and something else ($98) but didn't improve it at all. Listened to the Twins 2 - Angels 4 while painting a portrait.
2023 | W - Farm Street to get a tetanus shot, antibiotics and have Kevin look at the puncture. Mask restrictions removed, so I saw his face for the first time in three years. Bank to activate new card, fill car at BP and pick up meds at Countdown. AFL: Eagles were up 30 and just held off Roos 72 - 76 in battle for last place.
2024 | F - Played Euphoria. David and I walked back from Pacific View park. Then we got Turkish and takeaways, played Ticket To Ride and finished the day off playing Cascadia. Watched East Harbour Heroes.
