1971 | Down for breakfast and had a chat with Trivina's sister. Bonnie and I taxied to Kelera's bure in Naikorokoro village and have a meal with her family when Emosi got home from church. Four of us just made it back to the ferry in time. Met the Chinese girl from RKS who has applied for Woodie's job - had a good chat (she has an Oxford accent). Hargrove and White were waiting for us. Kelera's grandmother came over from Motoriki via motorboat. Kelera and Bonnie made Spanish rice for supper. | Granny |
1972 | New Zealand inspectors. One of them, Peni, knew about me writing a play in 1970. Went to Breeze's after school to drink wine with Hargrove.
1981 | Sa - Dropped off aluminum in Little Canada and the kids made $20.93. Dad's where it took two hours to get the charcoal barbecue going. Putt-Putt where we only got 13 holes in before rain hit. |
|
1982 | Su - Dad's with Chris. Gave him cuff links and erasable typing paper. Typed up three deed papers for him. Went to Crooked Lake. Too windy for swimming so we fished. David had the only catch - a sunny. Dad's for a barbecue.
1983 | M - Lundholm's arrived around 6PM. Van has big dents in roof from large hail.
1987 | Picked Dave up at Sheraton, at economics conference representing Vanuatu. Showed up at the conference in his wrinkled shirt and pants and as there were formal dinners to attend he went to a charity shop and bought a sport jacket for $2. Robbie Burns so he could buy beer to replace the ones in his mini-bar (hotel charges $5, Robbie $1.25). We raced the rain and went to top of Mt Wellington for a view of the city (video). Hungry Horse for a fabulous lunch and wine. Dave was sleeping by the time we got home (he had been up until 5AM at a strip club). Found out how he ended up with Taina - they have a daughter. Heard about his UN job and he had to repair 10 computers ruined by a cyclone. Seems that while he is supposed to be an economic advisor he is actually doing the same kind of work that I do. Returned him at 11PM.
1997 | F - Day 32 of our 3 month journey around the world. See 1997 Trip Photo Journal.
1998 | Sa - Trish visited bearing yellow kiwifruit. Ian and I walked Mairo Road in a very brisk wind. Ian and Susi over in evening for some good bridge.
2000 | T - Almost very single tree, bush and plant has been removed from 62 Beach. |
|
2001 | Alistair from S & J Appliances out to replace faulty mutlifunction switch on oven (12 minutes = $38.22 labor). Peter brought me oranges in an attempt to be the best student in class.
2002 | Chris picked me up at 2PM and we went to dad's. From there it was to a bank, so Chris could test out the safe deposit box. And over to Blaine to a lawyer, Norris Skogerboe, and set up power of attorney for Chris. Home for a meal with Lavonne. Set up the laptop and showed dad the domain name I purchased for him, www.oldestcabbie.com and website that I created to go with it. He thought I was giving him the laptop, much to Chris' amusement! Angi called and we all had a chat with her. Short stroll through the park with Lavonne. I got setup in the basement bedroom. |
|
2008 | Elaine back from Canada with stories of bears ("I just kill them, I don't clean up") and glorious, cheap food. Dee's to give her a lesson on cropping/re-sizing. Over to the usual for the usual before TP. Mike out of rest home and seems okay. | Ann/Russ |
2018 | W - Brought the cheque for her car to Heather and we talked about many things and she showed me photos of her new apartment in Mirangi Bay.
