1969 Left Kohala and back to Ookala. Details in Peace Corps Journal. Card from Gail.
1973 Atmores visited. Walked to Sanders for a meal and cards which Mike and I won. They have new bikes.
1974 Went to Dickson's to give them gifts. We listened to Audrey's tales. Painted an oversized Pink Panther for Chris Breeze. Sandy Wirepa lent us a cot. Paul Mitchell called to tell us that they are moving Wellington - he will work for Radio Windy.
1975 Mom and Bob went ice fishing at Milacs. Many calls about the slide projector. Card from Inez. Dad came over to say goodbye and gave us $1000. We went to Labelle's and bought Chris a camera and a poker table for Mom and Bob. Set up a tree in the basement.
1993 Waharau Ed Camp at 11:30AM. Had lunch. Whites arrived at 12:30AM. At 2:30PM David, Ian, Matthew, Tracy, Ne and I went for a hike, while the others did a bush walk. Girls turned back at the trail 3C junction. Men carried on up to the ridge track. Great vistas. Back at 6PM and we had a barbecue by the stream. Played Chinese checkers. Out to look at the stars.
Like Father, Like Son
1994 Opoutere: Didn't sleep last night in the carvan. Wind made it noisy, it was hot so I put fan on. It was smelly. Matt and David were up before me "whitebaiting" in the river (video). Gail and Ne arrived at 11AM (video). After coffee we walked to the beach through Evans property and met his wife Lena and the dog Foxy. Long, beautiful beach with no houses on it, by law. We all went for a surf - we were the only ones for miles. Dogs were happy. I went for a run with Cabby. Te cut his heal and Ne cut a toe. Set up telescope. Chinese Checkers with a Chenet '92 rosé.

1996 F - Doug called - talked him into buying an Epson 500 printer. Trish called about caring for their animals while they are in the South Island. Breezes stopped in. Steven Munro stopped by and gave me scorched almonds.
2001 Doug over with a Christmas hamper. We had a swim and then Scattergories (brothers, run and dead artists).
2002 Matthew, fresh from Newcastle, Australia, stopped in to see us, tell a joke or two (Annette). Then it was TP people over (young Christopher with blonde hair) for a go at the 20th Anniversary version. Put lights into the display table to go with the Kool Aid packs. We all drove around town looking at decorated houses, including Ian's with a train on the roof.
Kool Aid

2003 Chris helped me put in trim in studio (before it got hot up there). Gail brought Christopher home and then went to Paul's barbecue. Paul's sister (from Czech Republic) told Gail that "Malecek" means "darling" in Czech - actually its "milacek". Emery said the book I gave her is bad as she is not suppose to laugh.
2007 Went to Coff's Harbour (40 minute). Tight squeeze in parking ramp, but we got out and strolled the main shopping center. Had a curry steak pie at Ridgey Didge Pies. Wandered about the Botanic Garden where we observed birds from a blind on the river. Crabs in the mangrove mud. And plants and flowers from around the world. We also checked out an art display and loved Alan Chapman's pieces made of wood. After supper we walked down to the rocks and I painted Goofy. Several people took photos of me in action, quite a few stopped to chat and a young Charlie spent a long time quizzing me.
