1969 | Hawaii: Details in Peace Corps Journal.
1971 | Gail and I had some trouble (his Jade Lane has no sign) but finally found Les & Judy's place after stopping at a house and calling Les. Honeywell people - Don Erz committed suicide, Dunker fired and Klyberg big trouble with law. Judy the same mixed up broad. Matt a real talker and met wee Heather. Played some pool and had a hash chow. Visited Branleys'. Mary has a date with "Clayton what's his face from the toy dept at Sears".
1973 | Sanders arrived for an evening of billiards and snooker.
1975 | Steve brought us to the airport at 3PM where David pushed a chair around for 90 minutes until we went onto the plane. Flew into LA and there were about a million people hustling every direction. We got a trolley and worked our way over to the UTA building. Then a 3 hour wait and we bought a toy phone for Te. He went up and down the stairs about ten times. He also got 55¢ out of a pay phone. Boarded the plane at 11PM. They moved us to the back where we had two sets of two seats for ourselves. They gave David a book and plastic toys. Had a fantastic snack.
1977 | Gave Murray a tour of the yard, as he ate a banana. Mrs Dent asked me if I talk to myself when I don't have any visitors? Gayle came as we were leaving and we barely got Heasley to the airport in time. Sanders gave me $9.50 record voucher for helping at Mike's.

1984 | F - Deiffenbachs over with 2 month-old Ben for a meal (very good, dry Soverain Gamay Beaujolais). Played Trivial Pursuit with their Baby Boomer version. Was fun - I love the game.
1986 | Su - Built a platform for surfboard raft. Aldies over to exchange gifts. Kawakawa bay to a private spot down a cliff to stoney shore where we launched our boats and hung around for 4 hours. Dogs went in for their first swim. Cabbie whined most of the time. James didn't go in - doesn't like cold water - but I thought the temp was great. Stopped at Clevedon at a drink/drive checkpoint.
1988 | Rained all night and thru the day it drizzled. Read inside until afternoon when we went ashore for a stroll to the next bay. Ne was "stung" on her right hand by a spider. Tossed shells into a bucket and pummelled Simon as he lay on the beach. Very windy in the evening. Ate for the first time and got a big pain on my right side. Played Scrabble. My turn to sleep with Ne in the hull. No room to move and I am a tosser-turner. Eventually sort of slept on and off in a semi-sitting position. Had to close hatch when rain came, so it got stuffy. |

An Asian family renting Ernie's place - he and Lena live in the garage for the summer. It's his main source of income. No waves, strong wind. Ian made a shelter in the trees. Many small rides with a few good ones. Jackie had great fun. After supper Gail and I walked up the road. Back for marshmallows, Chinese checkers and Whist with a '94 Nobilo White Cloud. |
|
1995 | Th - Spragg's to buy a Technics turntable ($354) and a spare stylus ($65). Waiuku and brought Jackie and Ian with us to Karioitahi for lovely long rides on gentle waves. Ian and I walked back and got as far as Kohekohe Road before Gail came by with the van. After supper it was a couple rubbers of bridge. | Lake Whatihua |
1996 | Sa - Karioitahi for first surf with Whites. Ian brought a rope to untangle and wash in the sea. We were visited by Sharkie, a white pit bull bitch who was all over David, affectionately. Whites for a shower, barbecue and bridge.

2002 | Ian and Matthew came by to borrow a bike and stayed for snooker with Brundell who treated us to a brilliant Selak's 2002 Sauvignon Blanc. Over to Matthew's farewell. Ate with Domo and Liti, sipping a French W Klug cabsav-merlot, played petanque with the guys and sat around in garage with Susi, Lui and Joy and finished off a Selak 2002 chardonnay.
2006 | Pohutakawa petals falling, carpeting the drive and lawn in red.
2008 | Whites arrived for an afternoon of bridge. Had a smooth Imogen '05 Pinot Gris to ease the pain of losing 2 of 3 rubbers.
2011 | W - Called dad and heard about his Christmas, heart and investments. Heather brought over some beans and while we were chatting Maragret and little Summer came by.
