1973 | High = 85°F. Mr J told us which 3rd formers to watch out for. At assembly the new teachers were introduced. Mr Hunt met with the 4th formers and I took my form room class, a boisterous 4E, to the room and let them have a free rein. Went over options and timetable until break. Assigned lockers, got stationery and picked up books. Jenny was elected room captain. We had normal timetable last two periods and I met my 4th form and 5th form math classes. After school I went to the Papakura Civic Centre for a workout with the school basketball team (they're hopelessly bad) under Perry Cunningham, a PE teacher who put me in charge of basketball. | ![]() 4E ![]() Perry |

1990 | Tour of downtown Auckland and wharf area. Parakai for the day. We all hit the slides. Bob was the only one to attempt the Rampage (very high and steep - you slide on a sled that then skims across pond). Did a little soaking in the hot pools and swimming in the big one. Got Bob putt-putting for the first time. | ![]() ![]() |
1993 | Went to Whites and found them making salusalus for Saki's Golf Day. We helped make 39 all totalled. After supper we gave Matthew his gifts, including the glow-in-the-dark football. Had a bridge game interupted by Saki, Linda and Don Barker who came to tell us about the golf tournament. | ![]() ![]() |
2003 | We gave Monique gifts and she seemed to love them one and all. Walter and his step-mother Dorthe came to farewell Monique. Had lunch, wine and dessert and coffee on the patio. Dorthe is Ian (Tex Pistol) and Rikki Morris' sister. She also works at a vineyard in Clevedon that produces wine in ancient Italian style and she brought a bottle for us, but we didn't open it, having basic Montana 2002 high-acid Riesling and a very dry and full-bodied 2001 CabSav Merlot. Making sure to not miss plane, Monique was brought to airport 4 hours early. She left behind a Thank You card. Whites showed up with a bottle of French wine to farewell Monique. Stopped at BP to get petrol and Grace asked me if I were the computer guy that does the night classes. Doug's for Scattergories (times/timing, wind instrument artists and law & order). Doug gave me my birthday card! | ![]() ![]() Monique's ![]() bday card? |
