1966 | Cousin Steve and I went to church with grandpa and Rose. After lunch we took down the camp. Jerry came over to get Steve and we played softball. Kincy drove us to Spring Lake. Terri drove my car back from the lake in 2nd gear. | ||
1970 | The New English Bible with Apocrypha arrived - a gift from Gail. A married couple (Frank and Sue) came on the bus to visit Dick and ended up staying with us. They have been in Australia and New Zealand for a couple years and are working their way back to Hawaii. Gurmit brought an autoharp and a harmonica and joined us for a while. A Government Fisheries boat got stalled off our point and I helped one of the crew phone Suva for help. They transferred 2000 lbs of fish into the school walk-in freezer. A long night with plenty of David's home brew. | ||
1971 | David, Kelera and grandpa left for Levuka. Phil came with his gang and they gave Ghetto a shot (abcess). Lunch with Maraia (Kelera's cousin), then a nap while Phil printed photos. When Maraia returned from the movie we had supper. | ||
1974 | Got out of school at 9:45AM and took a cab over to bring Gail and David home from the maternity hospital. Went to the Y at 11:30AM and found Lynfield College waiting. We had to kick out badminton players who had gym until 2PM. Big hastle getting things organized. Boys B lost in overtime 10 - 9. Boys A lost 10 - 19 in a rough match. Evening - Rosehill lost 18 - 29 to Protectors. George got 10 points and so I gave him 50¢. Rosehill beat Tigers 36-15. | ||
1975 | High = 97°F. 5 hours priming half of one wall on Klyberg's rental house. David fell out of his chair and cut his lip on the concrete. First game of softball since 1969 and my first game under lights. My team, Moduline (where Don works), lost by about 20 to SWAT. Played 2nd and had three errors but had a lot of put outs. 1976 | Built bridges with Te. Practice. Aorere coach, Phil Roberts, came to see the gym and talk to me about Aorere sports (heard from Perry that he badmouthed Rosehill's basketball with its Yank coach). Aldersons brought Te to Karaka farm and had lunch with us on their return. Bags of lime and crop mix fertilizer delivered by Jaycees - $5.50. | ||
1978 | M - Walked to school in a hard frost. Rolling Stones' album, Rolled Gold, ($10.99) arrived. | ||
1979 | T - Howick visit. I reffed the junior boys win 16 - 14. Anton Welsh made his first ever basket. David W and Frank B covered textbooks. Gail taught David's class today. | ||
1980 | Th - Got flash cards at a garage sale. Chordettes album All the Very Best Of ($5.94) came today. Met dad at Penne Realty and he gave David a transistor radio. We looked at house listings near StPaul Cos. | ||
1981 | F - At 2:30PM power went out, I continued working in the emergency lighting, but when they went out at 3:30PM Tim brought me home. NZ Christmas - we opened the gifts from Sanders and Aldies. 'Computer' poster from Sanders. Norman Gunston's "Kiss Army"/"Normdrum" 45RPM from Doug. Papakura patches and a NZ Tour boardgame (Tape). |

1982 | Sa - Drove to Luverne, with Joyce, where we had lunch at Country Kitchen. Drove to Steen for Barb and Mike's wedding (officially pronounced wed at 2:22:35PM) in the Reformed Church. David and Billy were gift carriers (he was given a car model kit). Gail and I poured punch at the reception. A few words, two songs and then food. Talked to Hansen's son Jason and then to Hansen's father about Morgan. Over to Hills and Hansen's new house. Opened gifts outdoors under a huge elm tree. Jeff showed me photo taken at the week-long basketball camp with Jim Ducher. Bob gave me a bottle of wine (Christmas gift). Spoke with John Jones who had been in Fiji and New Zealand. Some of us had a meal in a small room at the Magnolia Steak House. I had scallops and finished Joyce's ham. Got to Worthington at 10PM and spend the night at Helen Towne's. Chatted until midnight while sipping a sweet Masson Rhine Castle. |

1983 | Su - Watched the milk carton boat races at Lake Nokomis. Walked to a small beach for lunch and kids went swimming. Met Lonnie Bankers and family. Big thunderstorm blew in and sent us home and Gail to work. |

1984 | I got ill at noon and the sinus/throat/chest problem came back with a vengance. from Kathy. Went to Labelles, Payless Cashways and Crown Auto and picked up my black wingtips that were re-heeled. Watched the only episode of W*A*L*T*E*R. | ||
1985 | W - Alan Dougall had major changes to be made on my part of the ITT and contract. So I met with Bruce Stuart and we hashed out the new stuff. I set PC up in an empty room so I wouldn't be disturbed. About 3:30PM Alan said that we had to have a copy to Purchasing tonight. I told him it would take Judy until noon tomorrow. She agreed. He said "overtime", but we both made a mad dash for the bus. | ||
1986 | Th - Back to work and Dougall ready with 20 things for me. Warren out for a meeting with me and when he left at 1PM I went with him. Gail bought a canister [ed. - only kind sold] vacuum cleaner for $269 - we gave it to Steph in 2011]. Card from Mom. | ||

1990 | MAC meeting with Neil and James to plan how we finish the audit. Had to find jobs for Suzanne and Patricia. Truckload of furniture thanks to Des Chapman. Shoved it all into the meeting room. Saw Dr Burley who gave me another antibiotic to try and we spoke at length about allergies and candida. So I left early to pick up the meds and checked out Stevens for the Royal Doulton pattern mom wants. Short walk with Gail after an enchilada supper. | ||
1991 | Letter from Inez (Tornado based winds knocked trees down removed roofs around Mil Lacs. Chuck busy cleaning up for neighbors since he is the only "young one"). | ||
1992 | Brought fish n chips to Aldies. Doug missed it as he was buying top half of the building his surgery (video). Women went to see "West Side Story". Men opened gifts. James loved the "pieces of 8" card (video), alarm clock and magic set (video). David got 3.5" disks, an obsedian and a laugh bag (video). Played poker. | ||
1993 | Went with Mike and Sophie to TLS to buy him a computer. Had lunch at Royal Oak McDonald's. Set the computer up with many interruptions from the girls. Saw Charlotte for the first time. Watched All Blacks beat Australia 25 - 15 with Leighton. Put Lemmings game on for the girls and went home very ill. | ||
1994 | Whites came. Doug with new girl, Claire, came to get Ian's van as he is shifting back to Waiuku. Played Sorry. We were playing MAD when David called, saying he left his lights on. So off we went in Claire's car to the rescue. Ian almost missed the Takanini exit as he thought David worked at MCC. I had to chase down a man to ask him to move his car so we could get in next to the car. Matthew then went looking for David who was probably looking for the van. Took a long time to open the hood, which opened frontwards. Then no jumper cables in either car. So we were going to go home and get some when I noticed Irene coming out of Foodtown. She had cables. Cake and gifts (Grand Prix towel) for David. Family Feud and supper. Made Jackie's card. | ||

1998 | F - Brought van to Makesh in Pukekohe to take care of rust. Postcard from Renata (touring Australia). Ian called. Spent two hours talking to him about life, school, his kids. Spoke to Susi at length about her problems with support money for her father's care that is sent to her niece in Fiji and sort of disappears. | ||
2000 | M - Julia Smith called to quiz me about Night Clases. Sandspit and then Broadhurst's. Met her sister Denice. | ||
2001 | Quote from Lance Cleave Panelbeaters for car's sill is $848. Spent an hour with Laurie going over the lastest info I had garnered. Brought Ne home from Needham's. Whites closed the deal on the Valley Rd house. Card from Trish. | ||
2002 | Put the chandelier together and boxed it. Finished reading Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak. email from a very excited Deborah - after spending day with Joyce at Mayo going over family tree stuff. Joyce gets home and says: "I don't understand why she wants that crap". | ||
2003 | ecard for Ceci. Gail went off for lunch with Kathy S - Mike has PICKS. Ian got the van to pick up his monster TV. Used Ian's car to visit and do a little Outlook stuff at Ford's and Barry's. The Warehouse (look for shelving), and Warehouse Stationery (envelopes and modem). Dropped off the car and got the van, so I was home late for lasagne. Made Susi a card with special envelope. |

2004 | Sa - Gail bought a Meyer lemon and azelas from Plantarama in Drury. I won the Upwords game. | ||
2005 | Had to get up on ladder again and flush out the drain by Gail's room. Renee off to Barry's for a month. Skunked Gail. | ||
2009 | F - I was skunked. We met Ann and Russell at Wendy's for din-din. Christopher has thrown in his job at Mitre 10 to busk. Irene and Paul's for a glass of Hunter's '07 Pinot Noir and a little TP. They had Johnny's binoculars out - around 30 or so of all sizes and types. | ||
2010 | Sa - Trish and David came for lunch and we looked at their Canada/Montana photos and they looked at Gail's trip photos. Went to the games with Russell and Ann. Juniors won 24 - 12. Lion Red girls arrived on Suzuki motorcycles and were introduced individually. Big boys out muscled the Storm 13 - 6 for their 5th win in-a-row. | ||
2011 | Su - O'Connors have offered asking price conditional on sale of their place. Went to Minis' for an afternoon of Dominion with Tracy and Leon. Also played Citadels for the first time. Had supper there. Steve has an Acer notepad and it is very cool. They bought Madison pink plastic boots with the birthday money we gave her. | ||
2012 | T - Watched The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel while playing cribbage. Dominion. | ||
2013 | W - Website hacked and every index file changed, so I had to repair them. Skunked Gail twice and she just escaped in the third game. Tried the Canterbury Cream Indulgence which is more refreshing than the others. Watched Man Aganst Crime episode Follow That Man and Racket Squad. | ||
2014 | Th - Card from Dad. A little pruning (cold outside). Called Trustpower requesting wiring charge be removed. First game night since February - at Kim's new place. Played Concordia with him, Sean, Dave and Matt. Then it was Euphoria with Max joining. Home at 12:40AM. | ||
2015 | F - What better on a chilly winter morning than a hot meal? Especially my oatmeal with its tumeric tinge... Scrabble at Anna's. Watched Assault on Precinct 13. | ||
2016 | Su - email, Powerpoint, and photo (Victoria Falls) from cousin Steve. Golden Ages and tacos. Clayton came at 7PM and we played Istanbul and taught him Onwards to Venus. | ||
2017 | M - Giles gave me a MIMS book and a script for Lamasil Spray (athlete's foot). Tried two pharmacies - no longer made. | ||
2018 | T - Got out to prune in a cool breeze. Tried to get rid of Colleen's wine bottles but bin was full. Regan over for a Formula D race - no pits or boosts I rolled an unbelievable number of green 7's and purple 12's. | ||
2019 | W - Won Stone Age, hoki supper and Burgundy. | ||
2020 | F - email from Lesser (neighbor has COVID). Terraforming Mars. We had Cheetos Flamin' Hot and I was the only one who could eat them. Women had Chinese and I had a potato top pie. Chocolate mousse for dessert. Watched Melbourne squesk past 1st place Suns despite and amazing first game effort by Izak Rankine | ||
2021 | Sa - email from Steph - Monique died on June 6th. AFL: Bombers beat poor Crows who had its lowest score ever (21) and Dockers had an easy go over Hawks. Watched Terminator Salvation. | ||
2022 | Su - Ne here with dogs and she left the puppy with us so she could have a rest from her non-stop action. Brought Lily and lounge chair back to 34OC. Did a little yardwork. Listened to the Twins 3 - Brewers 6 game while painting a portrait. AFL: Dogs 125 (Cody Weightman had 5) - Giants 105 (Toby had 7) in highest scoring game of season. | ||
