1966 | Walked back to the camp from Davis lake through cornfields covered in dew and got soaked. Since we didn't sleep last night we slept until noon in the tent. Got Kincy's car started and got cousin Steve. We drove around Alexander Ramsey Park in Redwood Falls. After dark we pretended to be commandos and worked our way down to the Minnesota River along the road to the bridge at the rendering plant. Hid in the ditch whenever a car came. | Davis' |
1981 | Th - Package from Sanders and Aldies filled with birthday and Christmas gifts and cards from Trish. Sheepskin rug and NZ tourist shirts from Aldies. Connie called at midnight to say that seller happy with our offer. |
|
1982 | F - Towns' and had a beer with Denny Voetz. Went to Showbiz Pizza (on 80th and Penn), where David played the games and Ne went on the rides. Watched the animated animals play and sing. Billy Bob came out to David and the whole crew sang "Happy Birthday" to him. |

1988 | OZ trip: Expo '88 Go to Trip Report
1993 | Robson brought a magazine man to interview me, the first Computer Services Manager in a school in NZ. Gail and Kelvin Road School in news item (video).
1997 | W - Day 9 of our 3 month journey around the world. See 1997 Trip Photo Journal.
2005 | Russel up from Timaru with 11 year old Shannon. After some card games we played Roost (video). Women spent a very long time getting pizzas. When we finished eating we played "PigOut" and Shannon loved it (she won both games). She asked if we would move to Timaru as we are so much "fun". Had the baba cake (100 on it for James' 21 and Russel's 79 years) with organic coffee and gingerbread ice cream. |

2008 | First visit to new New World and it is very flash. Everything new, including the carts. Brightly lit with wide aisles. Mike over for Scattergories (L Groups, A Names Food). Shared a '06 Nero d'Avola from Sicily.
2010 | F - New, stainless steel fridge delivered and installed. Emery's for the Wendy's ritual (hamburger, chili and frosty), but with a Cathedral Cove 2009 Sauvignon Blanc. TP at Bev's, with newly painted walls. Real effort to change a lightbulb, one breaking in the process.
2017 | Su - Won the Concordia game.
2018 | M - Filled car at Bombay. Big mistake - Auckland region petrol tax making it cost 20¢/l more. Pickle had doubled in size and seems a little more with it. Bev had "Castles of Mad King Ludwig" setup and we tried it. Jana stopped in - having just returned from Tauranga. Couldn't get into McLaren Falls Park due to a body being found there. After a salmon frittata we had Bev try Terraforming which she couldn't grasp. So it was a game of Castles of Burgundy to finish at 9:30PM. Colleen called from OZ to talk to us. Dave is going to have the tumour removed from his shoulder. Despite a detour off motorway from Manukau to Takanini I had a great run and we made it back in record time. Just south of Papakura on the northward side there was no traffic aside from around 30 construction vehicles flashing yellow lights. Then on highway 2 a truck stopped in the middle of the road and the driver got out to berate a driver in a car behind him (on the way in Gail had a truck driver blast his horn when she cut in too close to him). I managed to skirt around on the shoulder and avoid the conflict.
2022 | Sa - A large white poodle puppy was delivered from Matamata. Ne has named her "Lilibet". Played Colosseum. Listened to the Twins beat Texas 6 - 5 while painting a portrait. AFL: Eagles best performance this year, losing to 4th place Cats 81 - 63 (Hawkins reached 700 goals).
2023 | Su - Matariki traffic had me doing 10 minutes to get through Matamata. Then motorway was backed up about 1Km south of Bombay so I got to Takanini 30 minutes behind schedule. Then Ann missed the Elerslie turn off and road at stadium was blocked and we had to go all away around. But we made it in time. Was another great game with Warriors beating 4th place Sharks 44 - 12 in front of 24,000 (highlights).
