enlarge divide  On the road at 8:20AM as we had a 600mi drive. Gail drove us to Warwick in Queensland and I played Monopoly with kids, as the scenery was boring. I took over when we hit the Dividing Range. Stopped to climb a lookout over Fassifern and Lake Mosgerah (video). Missed our first goal, Cunningham's Gap National Park somehow. We had to work our way through a roadblock of 30 trucks that had filled one lane and there were highway patrol controlling the traffic and tv crews hoping for some action (truckers blocking all highways in protest) at Aratula and didn't have any major problems with it (video). It was all up and down from there with a stop at Beaudesert for a grocery stop. Then a long drive into the heart of Lamington National Park. We did the caves circuit near Binna Burra to some caves, a lookout over a huge valley and then a large cave (video). As usual had to rush and miss 90% of the place. Could see the Gold Coast lights on the drive down a very windy road. enlarge Almost lost a couple times, but we made it to Aquarius Apartments in Burleigh Heads at the southern end of Surfer's Paradise. We had a luxury apt on 27th floor - big 2 bedroom suite with two bathrooms. Plush carpet, balcony on two sides overlooking ocean and beach. Has its own laundry. Large and modern kitchen with everything. We went for a swim (indoor heated pool) and a soak in the spa. enlarge
