Sun finally out, but still windy. We all walked to the top of Mt Rogers and could see across the lake and over to Black Mountain and the communications tower. Drove over to it and found it a spectacular piece of engineering. Up to the view platforms where we had a snack and then outside where the wind was really whipping around (video). Basement to watch a film on the tower's construction. Around the tower are the Botanical Gardens with a great bookshop. Bought a couple tramping books for the Lees. Stopped at Charnwood Shops which were even more depressing than the previous two places. Spaghetti supper followed by crepes ala Paul. They showed us the lemon and sugar style (video). Karen made a special cake for David's birthday (video). | Mt Rogers Black Mt |
