1967	Rented a boat and motor and went fishing on North Star lake. I caught 3 perch to Steve and Kincy's 2. Played poker and lost 45¢. That's me clearing reeds for our raft area. see photos.
1972	Sa - Murph brought me and Bob to the Catholic Church at Natovi where we set up the cassette recorder (listen [6Mb]). Ceremony started at 10:15AM with Father Bridgewater in charge. Epeli gave Gail away. Local church choir sang during the service. After the service (11-ish) we stood outside for photos and everyone proceded past to congratulate us. Prefects, had walked from school and arrived too late for the ceremony. Epeli brought us to his place for sherry. Reception at Murphy's - more photos, chow, a lovely cake (from Pam Kacimaiwai) and champagne toasts. Hanif (Indian taxi driver from Korovo) brought us to the Rakiraki Hotel. Arrrived there around 5:30PM. We had to turn the air conditioner off as we weren't used to coolness. Had sandwiches brought up to room for a late supper.		Photos Reception Photos Cards Gifts
1983	F - Imagine this - I gave Mehus his first two greenies. Two and a half years ago he gave me mine!
1987	Aldersons for birthday party. We wore hats: cowboy, Goofy and they had masks/noses on we we arrived. Played, ate, sipped an excellent '84 Villa Maria cabsav and opened gifts. Gave James the Mickey Mouse clock (video). Played pool, Biff the Bozo on the Nose (video) and Trivial Pursuit. Gail gave me Kiwi Quiz, so we used those questions, too.
1988	OZ trip: Canberra. Go to Trip Report
1989	Gail and I went to Rotorua for the night. Stayed at Malones. An hour or so in the hot tub while sipping '87 Villa Antinori. Left car lights on - battery dead, so we took a taxi ($5.60) to Lewisham's Austrian Restaurant. I had shrimp in yoghurt on pawpaw and a beautifully done venison in blueberry/caper sauce. Chatted with owner as to why there aren't any Austrian dishes! He said let him know next time we are in town and he'll prepare me something. Gail gave me a Goofy: judo figurine, birdwatcher pencil and bookmark.
1991	Hour at Hell's Gate - brochure. In addition to the Southern Hemisphere's only hot waterfall... they had Golden Peacocks (video). The usual steamy mud thingies (video). Stopped at Ohope for a look. Drove through Whakatane to Gisborne via Waioeka Gorge. Checked into Colonial Motor Lodge and had a soak in the spa. Gail and I went to L'Escalier (upstairs with an old home feel) for a Neptune platter which included 1/2 crayfish (had to ask for melted butter). Lovely Esk Valley Chenin Blanc and a DeLaforce Port. 1993	Went to Aldies at 5:30PM for a lovely meal with a Nobilo Muller Thurgau. Gifts: Daffy cup and disks for David. Wine and books for me and Gail. We gave James a crystal radio kit. David gave him a quest game that he had programmed.
1995	Michael Cullen first to come, with his computer which they hooked up to Ian's. He, and others, gave David "Magic" cards. Whites were next: flannel shirt, Fruity Bix, plastic elephant 3D-puzzle, Jimi Hendrix tape and a computer game. The game had a faulty disc. When Matthew went to return it he was picked up by security because it wasn't in a bag and he didn't have the receipt. We gave David our gifts. From Ne: 3 Jimi tapes and 2 turtlenecks. His folks: briefcase, radio, Jimi tape and Fruity Bix. Cards and letters from Dad, Marge and Joyce. Ben Taylor stopped in for about an hour. Got up a bridge game until Betty came for cake and tea. Sanders brought a 21st key that Mike had made and everyone signed it. We played "Trivial David". Kids got up a Monopoly® game. Sanders left and Clarks arrived. 1997	T - Gail and I begin 3 month journey around the world. See 1997 Trip Photo Journal.
1998	W - Gail and I went to Pukekohe for the first time. Registered dogs, had lunch at the Monarch, checked out stores and shopped at 3 Guys. Gail didn't realize that it was our anniversary until she opened the card from her mother. Whites over for caiprinhas, Taboo and Charades with Ne and Jackie.
2002	Brought Gail to the shuttle, entertained by a 4 yr old girl as we waited about 20 minutes. Chatted with Shranko - back from Vegas. Picked up a Fruit Loops cereal with a Goofy CD inside.
2003	Ian and Susi over for bridge. Ian had great hands and at one stage Su bid "5 7". Someone couriered a mystery package of meat addressed to "Big Nose", so Ian ate it.
2004	Drove to Whiritoa where we walked along the lagoon and didn't feel like crossing it to get to next bay. From there we followed the winding road to Waihi and walked that small downtown. Oceana's for personal service from owner/chef, Gary. We shared a seafood platter and a Tatachilla 2003 Merlot. I also tried a Mac's ginger beer that I found too sweet and too much like L&P. I was disappointed when the date dessert turned out to be a date cake.
2008	T - Gail went to lunch with Kathy and picked up our Quota raffle basket which contained 26 items (jams, capers, caviar, chutneys, dressings, soup, sauces, coffee, wine, date bars and candy). Had a '06 Pinot Noir with our anniversary meal.
2011	F - Gail made an anniversary cake and accidently put in way too much cinnamon. Warriors with Russell and his brother, Glen. Juniors won 33 - 18 and seniors won 22 - 6 over the Titans.
2012	Su - Gail gave me a couple bottles of wine and a card. Gail and I walked around Drury Reserve and then in to Coffee Club after starting outside. I had a "Vienna" which was just like my mother made. Sun going down as we headed back to car (Leisure Island).
2014	T - Gail and I went to Mama Mia where a friendly Luciano served us some delicious food - tasty Bruchetta then potatoe gnocci for Gail and Filetto Al Pepe Verde and Cafe (coffee sauce) rib eye for me. We had a fruity Farnese Montepulciano and a very dry 2012 generic Chianti. Gail had Panna Cotta Di Orange & Pistaccio for dessert. I had a sweet/grapefruity D'Sicilla Zibibbo dessert wine to go with my Bailey's afagotto. Rock pieces on wall but Luciano didn't know what they were.
2016	F - Anna (and Christa for the first time) over for Scrabble. I began my game against Anna with a 7-letter word and had all the big point letters for an easy win.
2022	F - Went to hospital at noon. The pacemaker operation had been postponed from the AM to 3PM. Then it was postponed again and it won't happen until Monday and Gail stays in the hospital. Filled Jazz and it was $93.62 after 24¢/litre discount!!! Listened to the Twins walk off Orioles (video).
2023	Sa - Card from Gail. Ne gave us a scratchie for a car - nope. I gave Gail a Kahlua. Brought out the new Terraforming Mars box. Long game of Carcassonne and I was last. Shrimp for supper with a very sweet Johanneshof 2021 Gewurztraminer. Scythe and I didn't get a single star. But I did win Architects of Colosseum.
