1965 | Turkey sandwich cost me 55¢.
1973 | Supervised students picking up rubbish around Papakura. Barry picked me up at 10:30AM and brought me to school for a staff meeting. I ran home and had lunch with Graeme and David P. Phillip and David M mowed the lawn. Gail and I bussed to Auckland where I got a new passport and a carving for mom. South Auckland Basketball meeting at the Community Centre and volunteered to be the boys rep coach and several other duties. |

1980 | F - Organized car insurance (quotes: $110, $84 and $74 for $300,000 liability). Mom brought us to Dick's station where we picked up Joyce's old car (68 Ford). At bank David put his hand on the counter and we had to explain about how kids were "stamped" in NZ banks. Instead the kids got suckers from teller and then had their first go with a gumball machine. Kids loved the little snow that there was.
1983 | M - Bananas 10¢/lb. Gave Faust a certificate.
1984 | W - We went to the Met Center (now demolished for parking) to watch Walt Disney's "Magic Kingdom on Ice" featuring World Champion Linda Fratianne. Bought a stuffed Goofy on skates and a Goofy pin. Show was funny and exciting - everyone enjoyed it. We followed a cab from Mendota Bridge right to the house - turned out to be Rollie coming from the airport.
1986 | F - Prasad gave me a supply of Indian stamps and coins. International flavour at lunch - Joe Patterson from Scotland, Prasad from India and Willie Lee from Hong Kong. Alan wanted me to drive to Personnel and pick up a fellow from Gisborne. I said I don't drive (use the company bus). He said get someone to do it - then have Sharee (MIS secretary) do it. She wouldn't [ed. - she felt very strongly that she was the MIS manager's personal secretary instead of the department's and often refused to do things for anyone]. So Alan had to get the guy and it was a waste of time talking to him - useless, a real loser, nothing there.
1987 | Rained all day - big puddle in front of cabin. Went to Rotorua for supper. Austrian restaurant wouldn't serve child's portions so we ended up at Friar Tuck's. Expensive, fancy place with great food. Ladies asking if we wanted our picture taken or a corsage for Gail. Back to play pool in the rec room and chat with the owner.
1999 | Sa - Picked up Hikaru at Schmidts on Victoria and went to Karioitahi for her first surf. Powerful waves and I was sucked under by a triple breaker and sommersalted. Dip in the pool and tour of yard. Dawn's for lunch and many interesting stories from Dawn's life. Hikaru gave us photos of the girls (Yukiko and Chihiro), an Ohinasama doll (Festival for Girls in March) and maps of Kiryu.
2002 | High = 24°C. Saw Dr Harris about the tingling in my left hand and arm. Gave me script for Celebrex for the pain and I will get neck x-rays.
2004 | Titania came by for a farewell visit as she is off to Sydney, now that she is a NZ citizen. Regaled us with stories of life as a waitress at Auckland's gay restuarant, SPQR. Had a pizza with us and shared a birthday cake that Sue had made for her.
2014 | F - Pretty much awake at 4AM. Lights on at 7AM. Not allowed to go home until I passed enough urine. Unfortunately, I hadn't any fliud intake since 11PM, so nothing aside from a little blood came the first two tries.
2015 | Sa - Clayton and Kim over for the very first Grand Prix meeting with David joining in. Gail won the Australian Formula 1 game. After supper Kim had to leave, so we played a practice Formula D which Clayton won. Few games of Kingdom Builder with David.
2019 | Th - We had Pete and Coral over for the first time. Gail made a gluten free apple pie as Pete is celiac. Had a good time. He convinced me to not get a hearing aid.
2020 | Sa - Matamata where I got some household things from Warehouse. Then New World to get food for my evening at Russell's. Checked out his newly planted fruit trees and fence. Then we had a go with his computer - still can't get onto TAB and can't Skype his son Mark. A lot of time mucking around getting nowhere. He gave my Warriors members pack. Watched the Warriors lose 6 - 20 to Bulldogs. Stayed on to watch a couple low scoring games - Roosters 8 - Manly 9 and Sharks 10 - Storm 12. Home at 1:10AM to find Gail watching a movie. I was up until 5AM watching Pies beat another Bulldogs team.
