1972 | Photo of play in paper. Brought projector to Kaci's and asked Epeli to give Gail away. Pam says that she will bake a cake.
1973 | Took 10AM bus to Grey Lynn. Dumped the records at Paul's and went to the Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT) with its Old time stores. It was a "live" day so things were working including this car. Back to Paul's to get some records. Bused back at 6PM. Mike Gawel showed up in love.
1975 | Tied Ian's boat to the top of the car and brought it to the beach for it's launch. Had some trouble getting the motor started. Ian dropped Gail, me and Unger off at the reef so we could do shelling. Didn't find any for the collection but a few for cooking and a hermit crab. Walked back through the mangroves. Saw a takia. Played bridge until 11PM. |

1978 | Sa - Power off so I used our new Coleman stove for the first time to make tea. Aldersons for supper. Looked at all the trees they have put in. Looking at slides when Johnstons dropped in.
1986 | T - I took Anil Titus under my wing to get him home on the bus. Full of questions about farms, cows, everything. He wants to move his family here. | Anil |
1988 | Brought kids to Immigration. After 15 minutes in wrong line we managed to get their re-entry visas transferred to new passports. Began making flight arrangements with Lance Green. Aldies visited. Heasley called to say that we can stay with them.
1989 | Whites stopped in so we could say our goodbyes to Granny who is back to Scotland. Our best Lotto result with 3 numbers - but no money.
1990 | Mother's day - Lilliputt for the first time even though it was cold. Played two rounds - I was consistent with 48 and 47 on the par 43 course. Oriental markets where I picked up the Goofy sun catcher that I had commissioned.
1991 | Trish called: The boys were looking for stamps, so she dug out all her letters. She keeps them in the envelops (just like Karen L). James and David pointed out that most of the letters she saved are from me. When David asked why, James said "You and John have a very good relationship".
1993 | Gaye and Pat O'Connor came for a meal (harsh Corbans Chablis and an excellent Montana '92 Sav Blanc). Copied a subliminal tape for Doug.
1999 | Th - Sandy B's for first time. She offered me a "lemonade". I asked if she could make it hot thinking real lemons. Turned out to be soda pop. Dorothy from night class stopped in. Doug over for our 25th anniversary of meeting. |

2009 | Looked forward to bringing Steve to Ngtea Wilderness Gems. The building had a fresh coat of paint on the outside, but once inside it was depressing. One quarter the amount of rocks and jewellery on display, and they were in plain language "crap". What a let down. Dirty and unkempt. So instead of spending an hour we were out in less than 20 minutes. Went to Thames for lunch at The Goldmine Restaurant and Bar. Skunked Gail. Zipped out to Karioitahi to see the black iron sand (titanomagnetite) and pick up a couple shells for Darlene. Shrimp creole for supper and an excellent 2001 Waimarie Merlot Malbec. Graduation invitation from Abby Elbers and a "Get Well" card from Inez. |
|
2017 | Sa - Ne and Colleen over for a ham meal with an excellent McWilliams 2014 CabSav.
