1973 | Went shopping at 3 Guys - not much choice. Rodewalds over for a meal and chat.
1974 | Met Doug Alderson when he, and Trish, came over with feijoas. After supper we talked rock 'n roll and played snooker until wee hours.
1975 | Met Chris Scott. Ian took others out for a ride on his boat and I stayed back with David who learnt to wave "goodbye". Watched home movies of our wedding, Kadavu trip with Dick, Disneyland and others. Then he and Hargrove discussed their idea for a QVS museum (Dick is into nose flutes).
1976 | Gail handed the Pink Batts to me and I laid it out in the attic. A hot job as I was covered head to toe to protect me from the fibreglass. Simon brought us a couple birds to watch while they were off to New Plymouth.
1979 | M - Cleared dining room and set up David's wooden train set. Kids and I made a basket out of a fishing net and put it onto the kids garage (video). Hung the eskimo painting that Trish gave us, over Ne's bed.
1982 | F - Dorothy can't believe that I wore shorts to teach in NZ.
1987 | Coup in Fiji - Doug called to talk about it and I called Mike because they are going there soon.
1995 | NZ32 took the America's Cup today from Dirty Dennis Connor 5 - 0. Red socks everywhere. Elerslie Putt-Putt where everyone beat my 48.
1996 | T - Gail and I became New Zealand Citizens at Papakura Council chambers at 5PM. 11 other people there for it including Paul Pommerade (Su's husband). We were down on the list, so we were surprized to be called up first. The Mayor, David Hawkins, then told everyone (a large crowd of supporters) how we had taught and played basketball together. I was given Papakura coat of arms cuff links and collectors spoon. Then the remaining people were called up in two groups and given a mass swear in. No gifts for them. If I had known it was going to be a special event for us, I would have had the kids along to take photos. A "supper" was served and we talked with the Pommerades and Councillors Vivienne Pollock and Glen Archibald. Over to SAC because Dale had suggested celebrating, but I had night class. They gave me an Epson pin.
1998 | Th - Karl, Dumb and Dumber, Jo Katz, Laure and Diego all waiting in my office and complaining that I was away for a week. Home at 5PM to find Van Diepen with my new Viking ride-on mower, He had a beer and we caught up on the last 13 years. Doug over for Scattergories.
2002 | Lunch at China Jade in Frontier Village Center - I had Szechuan shrimp and the ladies had Mongolian beef. Joyce feeling so good that she says she wants to go to Las Vegas and see the fancy buildings/entertainment centers.
2009 | Steve shouted us lunch at Cafe Karma (formerly Rosli's) where I had the French toast (again), Gail had chicken satay and Steve had a panini. Drove to Maraetai and picked up more shells for Darlene. Takanini only to discover that the old Ross Roofing building upper level torn down and the souvenir shop gone. On the way back home Steve said it was weird being on the left side of the road, so I moved over to the right side and asked him if that was better, and from around the corner came a police car. After supper with a trifle for dessert I dug out my Night Owls stuff for a walk down memory lane. |

2023 | Su - 85 minute walk to Pacific View. Brought out Habitats for Mother's Day and we played it a couple times. Then it was a sweet 2020 Stoneleigh Pinot Gris for supper. Watched the Twins 11 (5 homers) - Cubs 1. AFL: Blues 152 - Eagles 44 (Curnow had 9 goals).
