Because I had no money for a bus I walked home from university campus - a fair swag and I had to go through Negro section of town. |
1978 |
Sa - Kathy and Lia visited. Lamorna came at 5PM to babysit. Meal (Ormond Waihere Claret) with Fornuseks and Kays and then we saw Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind at the Royal Albert. |

Su - Went for a bike ride on Heartland Trail,
for about 5 miserable miles. Gail and I were on a tandem and just couldn't get it
going in unison. When we got back it was naps for everyone except Ne who went out fishing. Tom, David and I played catch while supper cooked. And then it was out on the paddleboat for more fishing. See photos |

Mad dash up Mt William. Very windy, made it to communication tower just as rain arrived. So we ran down to the van in stinging rain (video). Stopped at Bombay to get fruit/veggies and my first taste of persimmons.
Gail made liver for supper and Ginger was all over it (video). |

2001 |
Ann and Russell over complete with food for seven. Roseanne moving out.
Simon and Fran over for the first time sice their return to New Zealand. Many good stories about getting out of Brunei and getting into NZ. Labeling, loading, unloading of boxes; getting car locked in a parking ramp in Newmarket,
getting teacher's registration, applying for jobs... Had a Montana bubbly Bernadino Spumante with the meal. |
2003 |
Smith's for the first time and it was an easy fix - CMOS battery. Met Jasmine who has a mitochrondial problem, her brother Cody (1) and sister Eden (2) who says "yah" to everything.
Corinne's mother, Joan, set me up with some cookies for the road. I had to get past Scooby Do, a pit bull terrier, who insists that you throw a ball. |
2004 |
New record filling van = $66.30. Clark's to begin transferring files from old computer to new. Stayed on for a bowl of "Dr. Scarpetta's" Stew. |

2017 |
Sa - Heavy rain through Kaimais. Got to Trish's at 3:30PM and met Piper and another dog. Heard about David's $700 water bill. Dropped off Doug's records for David. Just a short visit and I was off to Russell's.
We got to the stadium in time to see 2nd grade team beat North Sydney Bears. And out of nowhere Emery appeared, looking very good. She has had the dupuytrens surgery - heaps of physio afterwards.
And having her heart looked at since she can't go up stairs with getting out of breath - but she was sitting higher up than us. It was a Heritage game, players home country's flags were out and the "Drums of the Pacific" performed.
The Warriors put on a good show after two bad losses and beat Brisbane 28 - 10, but then they had players missing for State of Origin (Highlights). |
