1972	Taru visited - he left home because his brother took over the farm and worked as a farm laborer, bottle filler, construction labor, plumber, irrigation and is now a motor mechanic making 45¢/hr, living in Suva.
1973	Met Paul and Bill off the bus and they spent evening going through the big Miles Chart book. Walked them down to the 10:45PM bus.
1975	David very sick with a high temperature, it's Memorial weekend and the doctors on strike in CA. Car rental agencies won't give me a car. Need a major credit card, or name in phone book and a job for a year. So Gail and I thought about taking a train north. But since David was ill we decided to fly to Mpls. Got there at 10PM. He had a fever of 103.8°F. Met by families and went to Towns for coffee. Went to Mom's and we moved into the upstairs rooms.
1983	Th - Fran has named me: "John Malcontent". Went with Fran to Labelles and ran into Jim Thommes buying a bike for Chris. Final Pack meeting and there was a uniform inspection. David was the only one wearing nice shoes. He also carried the flag in. Candle cermonies. Bob Butek's for banana splits.	Buteks
1984	Sa - Went to Riverside Resort Motel near Park Rapids, MN where we shared a cabin with Tom and Kathy. Two hours on a paddle boat but no fish to show for it. Pigmania after hamburger roast. Photos
1985	Su - Gail joined us for a tour of the Steel Mill. Checked out Waiuku - it has really grown. Aldies' and visited with Trish (James just smiles).
1988	Piled into Neil's car except Ian who was 45 minutes late and went to Major's Carvery in Drury where I bought the drinks, Neil (CSNZ) shouted the meals. I had chicken schnitzel and everyone else had the carvery so they were all eating while I waited and waited. Had an oily Seaview '86 chardonnay and a spicy Villa Maria '87 gerwurztraminer.
1989	Perriam was very nice about it - same prescription. He washed his hands of me and didn't accept payment. Back to square one - 6 years without proper glasses! Aldersons visited. The boys trashed the house and Doug broke a lounge chair.
1991	Went to New World - first time for Sunday opening in NZ.
1994	Doug over for R 'n R Trivial Pursuit. He was in a survey about men's attitudes toward violence.
2003	Mike called and asked "How's everything?" - I convinced him I couldn't answer that.
2011	Th - Bayswater where Dave Hayes showed us a couple two bedroom villas. Checked out Bayfair Mall. Le Café Taste of Asian, for magnificent food (I had scallops in ginger sauce) to go with a fruity Matua '10 Sav Blanc. Colleen's for a Baileys before bed.
2012	Sa - Russell joined Anna and me for petanque and he caught on quick and I just pipped him by one. 3 handed cribbage with each of us skunking someone. I chose not to take two peg points and be safe only for Russell to then peg 18 and skunk me. Kwang Chow where we had to be squeezed in and out within 80 minutes since we didn't have a reservation. Couple games of Buccaneer.
2018	Sa - I was doing 95 in a 90 zone when a cop car came the other way, a minute later I see red lights flashing in rearview mirror so I pulled over thinking he was coming for me. Nope, sped right past. Earlier I had reached a new record of 146Kmph in passing a car. King Kapasi sang before the game which was a miserable one. Warriors scored first and then the Rabbittohs proceeded to get try after try, even though they had two men sin-binned. Big loss to a bigger and faster team. When we got to Russell's a security car was creeping along his street. Russell went in locking car before I got my bag out. So I was standing by the car doing nothing. He comes out and burglar alarm goes off and he rushes back in. The security guy stopped in front and looked us over. Alarm stops and the guy still skeptical, but eventually he drove on.
2023	F - Walked to Chemist Warehouse to get a Covid/Omnicrom booster.
2024	Su - Russell and I off to Warriors. Indigenous Week, so a Kapahaka group did their thing before and at half-time. Warriors stars out with injuries so a second grade team took on the 2nd place Dolphins and managed to win 24 - 20 (highlights) in front of 23,116 fans.
