M - Bought David a 20" bike ($59) at K-Mart It is bigger than old one and he fell off his first try. Towns visited. Showed them the train setup. After a
big meal we played a bingo-type card game. |

W - Mom over for a meal. David went to game with Thommes. Woodbury High School to Ne's recital, Footlight Follies.
Tremendously funny. There were seven in Ne's dance line. I hesitate to call it a 'line'. Each girl tended to do her own thing, some even to the music.
The girls were looking at the teacher, stage right, where I imagine she was showing them the moves they had been practicing for a whole year, only to forget at the moment of truth. For "Let It Snow" Ne headed the line on (Amy right behind her) and was therefore the last on stage by herself, as each girl did a couple moves and then left the stage. So there was Ne all by herself. She managed to do her thing without falling. |

M - Ong's host mother thinks I'm American. Ong told her that I was Kiwi. I told her that I was in US for 23 and 25 in NZ. She said: "So you are not a teenager". Nice complement. |

Th - Doug beat me at Scattergories for only the second time ever. He stayed the night. |
2001 |
Pukekohe Cosmopolitan for an evening with Sandspit school PTA-BOG-staff. George Virtue had a great story about a small circus he brought kids to see - RingMaster began by apologizing for a lack of animals as his wife ran off with the lion tamer and they took the lion. Had a bistro meal
while watching indoor bowls. Then 10 pin action. I was with Maxine (smooth delivery), Ashley (threw strikes),
Theresa who managed to beat her partner, Ed; and Bobby who was all over the place. I had 4 points after 2 frames and ended up with 107. Then I topped the 35 bowlers with a 145 closing off with a strike. |
2008 |
Saw juniors game which they won 40 - 10. Not so good for the big boys who were outplayed 38 - 12 by first place Roosters. Read match report at Worriers. We stopped at Middlemore to visit Roseanne.
Sam and Scott were there. |
2011 |
W - Gail and I drove to the Mount. At a road works Gail turned before the arrow sign and had the flagman shaking his head. Colleen showed us Ken's ashes container and then over the
evening more about his last days and the funeral. Frank, over the fence, being very solicitous to her, but she's not ready. Ate a great stew with an excellent '09 Old Coach Road pinot noir. |
2019 |
Sa - Filled up at Matamata Z. Silver said it was the English version of her Maori name (Hiriwa) that no one could pronounce.
Wand lady told me to empty my jacket pocket - sandwich (chicken-bacon-Caeser salad) I bought at Z. Told bringing food was okay!!!! There was an indigneous ceremony so I asked Peter where he hailed from. Turns out Denmark.
Was a lousy game with Warriors losing 8 - 2 to Broncos. Both teams stunk for large crowd off over 17,000. Quick ride home despite the fog in the 5° weather. |
2022 |
W - Wilkins came for as meal with a robust Wolf Blass 2018 Shiraz. He is a grandfather since November.
We looked at my Fiji photos and that drew out many stories. Such as taking the bus into Suva to see Prince Charles and a car crashed into the bus throwing Peter into the front window. He brought along a lemon meringue pie for dessert. |
