Up at 7AM to a frosty morning (movie - me/Esala/Inia). We set up the play (One More River) while the actors sang for the students of Nilsen High School. Haysons arrived with Qori and Cagi. After lunch with sogosogovakamarama we put on the play for the school. A strut broke when Loruama threw Rongo down on the hatch. Took photos of the gold mines. After a meal with Sogosogo it was an evening
performamce for the locals. We took the set down and had the three young boys (Jesoni) move their beds up onto the stage. |

M - Timberlake, S.D. school superintendent, Carl Remmers, called at 9:30PM and said I could have the maths job if it is not filled by August, but I would need to be working toward a teaching certificate.
Pay only $11,700. He told me about the area. |

Su - Chris called at 4AM. Having a cyst removed from bowel next week and worried about that. Gail brought car in - now they say it is the transmission that is leaking after replacing water pump and rack/pinion - real rip off. |
1985 |
F - First day at New Zealand Steel. Wore my old brown sports jacket and was over-dressed. Walked up to the bus depot, joined three others. The bus goes through town and back to the depot about 15 minutes later. It was full by the time it got to the motorway. Had a great meeting with Des Chapman. He accepted my costs for the flight and threw in taxi cost from airport and some meal money.
Said that the shipping should be what the quote was. Offered me a house in Waiuku and Mrs Archibold drove me over to see it. Met with John and Alan. Alan gave me a tour and I met Peter Gregory (from Perth)
and Jeff (England) who are my co-workers in the Info Center. Spent an hour with Sue, head operator of the computer room (Burroughs mainframe).
They sent me home in a cab (so I heard all about taxis in South Auckland). Called Owen and Doug.
Treated Sanders and Kathy's parents, to Cobb & Co for their anniversary. Had a good schnitzel. Mike had a little trouble with a shrivelled up loaf of bread (85¢). Many good stories from Jacko. |

Heavy rain and big wind yesterday, so I filled four bags with leaves floating on the pool. A few hours of internet lessons at Les E's (friend of Berthe). Doug over for Scattergories
(moon, drummers and dancing). The compressor at work blew and was under the building playing plumber. |
