1967 | Interview and tests (including typing) at Honeywell for Records Clerk position. Kincy fired from Wards and got his 1A classification.
1971 | Up at 7AM again, loaded the truck and down to sogosogo for breakfast. We presented a tabua and sang songs - Ian and a marama danced. Ian and I rode back with Haysons. We picked up salt and sugar in Tavua since there is none in Suva, due to the strike. Stopped at Rakiraki Hotel for beer and ping pong. An American, traveling around the world, joined us. Hayson is a maniac driver so I was pretty wiped out when we got home.
1975 | Last day at 29A South St. Lowes picked up the bed. Brett Mason picked up my bike. Jocelyn watched David while we cleaned the place. McGhies came by and we brought them over to see the house. Aldies took the crib and swivel chairs away. Final load of stuff to Mariasouccé's and took photos of them. Breezes brought us to our house to have a look and then we spent the afternoon and had supper at Breezes tape. Simon brought us to Aldies at 10PM where we spent the night. They were sleeping. Note from Trish and our reply. | Lu-Lucy-Ann |
1976 | Mufti Day (kids wear street clothes instead of uniform). Nadine and Patricia came in their Bay City Rollers gear. Television repaired (one tube and a switch - $11.84).
1977 | Gail went to squash with Trish. Doug came over with burgers and slides. Listened to '68-'73 45s until women got home.
1985 | Su - Doug came over with his trailer and a mattress. We moved 5 cartons and 2 suitcases to 29 King Ed. Gail painted the kitchen and back hall. Doug and I cut a peach tree, a currant bush and the pine that had overgrown onto the driveway. Brought a load to to the tip - I calculated that it cost $1.33 in petrol per trip. Doug and I cleaned out the gutters and I swept the roof (the silk tree had dropped a thick layer of junk over the years onto the flat slope roof and caused rain to leak into the back room, which ruined the wallpaper). Gail tore out everything around the fish pond. Kids played cricket with Kelly and Timmy. Gayle sent over the photo she took just before we left in 1980. |

2002 | Gail went to a birdwatchers thingie near Thumb Butte. Gail and I checked out the Cinco de Mayo feista in town - mariachi band with female singer. Lots of volunteer organizations and a salsa tasting group of stalls. Sat on a bench and this elderly fellow, Paul Shubert, says he's reserving it. So I said I'd help him reserve it and we get to talking. He was born in Prescott, spent 20 years in the mines at Bagdad as chief driller (for copper). Drove to Granite Creek Park and walked the track (creek had a little water).
2007 | email from Tausi (making a movie in Marshall Is). Wendy's at Emery's then Mike's for TP where we had a rare appearance of the Eastie sisters. Plenty of chocolate but no Freddo.
