1970	Bussed to Sigatoka. On the bus back we met Bette, Frank, Sweeney and Larsen who were heading for Nadi! Went to the beach and swam in the beautiful seclusion. Walked to man-made island that has the Fijian Hotel [ed. - now Shangri-La Fijiian Resort]. Fun mingling with tourists getting thoroughly sick of their accents and attitudes. Sun was setting as we returned and I was got some photos. Emosi Racule showed up and he taught us the shell game, sela. Played Aggravation and talked about Hindi and Fijian funerals.
1975	Up at 7:30AM to say our goodbyes to Aldies. Sanders brought us to the airport where Bob Lark came to see us off. BAC 1-11 to Tonga where Gail bought a fan in the airport waiting lounge and I got some coins. Ian, Susi and Doug picked us up at Nausori and brought us to Woodie's where it was beer, homebrew, wine, cigarettes, chicken meal and bridge. Susi and Kelera beat me and Ian. Then Susi and I won on my two straight 3NT bids. Heavy rain and the beds were very mouldy. David slept in a drawer put into the closet.	Tonga
1979	Su - Built a train engine out of Breeze's gokart (video). Te helped me paint it.
1985	M - NZ Steel - induction day with 7 others; I was in a suit the others in rags. Video on the company's history, then a slide show. Tea break. Two hours with Jim, Safety Officer, full of jokes and examples. Had sole for lunch. Afternoon with nurse, paymaster, David Kelly and industrial relations. Over to MIS where I set up a PC on the typist's desk. Dougall gave me an introduction booklet. Medical insurance = $50/yr.
1998	W - Gail and I went to lawyers' to sign property documents. Gary wanted to talk about Prague for an hour.
2007	Brought a monitor to Higgott and Gail remembered going down the driveway before. Showed them my diary entry from 18 Apr 1973 said Alton had picked up Mike Gawel from our flat. duFresne's to meet Diesel and check out the progress on the house. Had excellent '06 Villa Marias - pinot noir and gewurtz. Told us about their latest OZ travels.
2013	Su - At Friends of the Library meeting Gail won a prize packet which included: 3 fancy hangers, Frac cookies, She Always Gets Her Man DVD, Caleb's Crossing book and a Wasgij?1.
