1963 | Su - Ate at Embers. Jack Ruby shot Lee Harvey Oswald.
1969 | Hawaii: Details in Peace Corps Journal.
1974 | Auckland Museum with Peter (our first time there). Spent most of the day there and went through the Winter Gardens which had beautiful flowers. We all liked the museum, including David. Bussed back and Peter was on his way to Pukekawa at 7PM.
1975 | Drove over to the Jensen truck terminal at 63rd and Cedar. Had trouble backing into place. Then I had to convince the only employee there to accept the crates. Almost killed myself on the ice having to shift them by myself and pray that the motorized hand truck would be able to lift them to the loading ramp about ten feet up. I was sure that one would drop and break open, but after an hour we made it.
1978 | F - Lamorna babysat while we went to Aldies to play religious Monopoly (I won three times). Had an excellent '77 Nobilo Dry Red. Gail got sick on a fruit cocktail.
1983 | Th - Brought a load of washed clothes to be dried at Towns once we had shovelled the driveway. Watched Thanksgiving Day football games in the basement because Dick had a fire going there. Had the normal turkey meal. We stayed overnight and Ne slept in basement with Sugar. Watched Carson: tape.
1984 | Sa - Steve N. (with a beard flecked with grey) arrived at 11:30AM and we spent the day visiting, looking at photos and catching up on family. Karen living with a guy and a bigshot at Honeywell. Julie divorced and with a kid.
1985 | Su - Listened to Rick Dees. Ne went with Joneses to see a play that Bronwyn was in. Played Risk with David.
1996 | Su - Climbed to top of Clevedon Reserve Hill with the Whites and saw the Skytower. After supper we played bridge.
2003 | Ladies off to the Museum (Bonnie thought the Maori act had beautiful harmony) and other parts of Auckland. After a lamb roast supper I brought the gang to Karioitahi beach where they scratched "New Zealand" into the black sand and collected a couple pounds of it carry around. On way back we had to stop for Courtney to get possum road kill photo. Then it was trifle and hokey pokey ice cream for dessert. They gave us a book and calendar on Minnesota. I cut out heaps of Guy Sebastion photos from magazines to give to Courtney. |

2006 | Emery's to get a supply of newspapers and then to Trish's where I tried to clean her pool. She went off to a wedding. Played Scrabble with David. He made us French toast for supper. Then I taught him Rummy. Taz charged me four times, but never tried to bite. Trish got caught in U2 crowd on motorway and it took her two hours to get from chapel to reception. Met Karen Forest.
2007 | Mike H sent a photo of Dehila. Letter and card from Inez. Mark measured rooms for tiles - paid him $30 to get a quote which he doesn't want to do until plumber and chippie are done. Skunked Gail. I spent 15 minutes chipping off the tile to see how hard it is going to be - think I'll rent a machine to do it. Watched The Sum Of All Fears and Rocky IV. | Purdues |
2008 | 60 hours to fill pool (70,000 litres).
2010 | W - After a cooked breakfast Gail and I went for a walk on the beach at Yeppoon. Drove to the top of Mt Archer where we did a couple walks to outlooks. On the drive to Bargara we got a second windscreen chip. We zipped past the Botanical Gardens in Bundaberg without seeing an entrance so we gave it a miss. Saw a strange sight amid the sugar cane - a field of corn. We stopped at a shopping centre to get groceries. Checked into Shoreline Apartments and the owner showed off his talking bird, Jethro. That was the highlight as the rooms were pretty dismal, the kitchen light didn't work (I fixed it), the pool was very small and uninviting - pretty much a dump and far from the four stars it claimed (postcard). |

2016 | Th - David arrived from Rangiora and shopping with mom around 4:30PM. Ne came and we looked at Gail's trip photos. Had a curry meal, played Agricola, ice cream and then TTR Europe. Luckily, David was on hand this time for the flat tire, which he changed for me.
2022 | Th - Wingspan. T-Day meal with Blind River 2020 Pinto Noir that was excellent. Then Concordia - Egypt and pumpkin pie for dessert.
