| Up at 6AM and to the airport. Flew into Pittsburgh where we were met by Leland, Marge, Paula and Lori. Had breakfast with them. Had half an hour in Atlanta, so we got off the plane and Gail bought three cook books. Jim and Diane met us, wearing our winter clothes, at Tallahassee (airport). Spent the evening talking about our travels. After a meal we looked at their slides. | Johnsons |
| Mrs Dent was in her garage beating on a pot at 3AM. Heather and Jamie visited. When I belch Te pats me on the back and says "Oh Dear".
| F - Banks after-Thanksgiving sale and there was a line around the block. Dropped Gail off and went looking for a parking spot. Bought a humidifier, tools, film and gifts. Lunch at Mom's and then raked leaves in the snow. Brought in her lawn furniture. Long, slow drive home in the increasing snow fall. Kids love it. Ne lies down and hugs it. David wants to shovel it for us!
| M - 11" of snow so no school or work. New record for November with 26.4" (Radio report). Gail fed up with Minnesota winters.
| F - We explored Te Puru creek north of Thames but since we didn't know what we were doing we didn't find any gems. Same at Te Mata beach where we stopped for lunch. Turned off to Whitianga onto a gravel road which made it seem like we were in Fiji. Stopped to hike up to Castle Rock. Lovely foxgloves all over and very slender grey, noisy birds flitting about. As we were leaving a mother quail was having trouble getting her brood across the road. Had to stop to allow about 50 horse riders past and Cabby barked up a storm. Stopped at Waiau Waterfalls long enough to get a photo. Arrived at Aladin's Camp about 5PM and sign says pick up phone to get manager, if you can't get anyone just take a key and find your cabin. Cabin next to an octagonal toilet-shower building. Had whole place to ourselves. ($30/night). Guest document. |

| Sa - Papakura Music School put on an excellent show presented in a Christmas theme with a story-line. David played a few pieces with the Junior Orchestra and then a piece with just percussion. Ne and I went to Clark's Beach with Doug and spent two hours videoing him windsurfing. Ne paddled out on a second board, but I sat in the car - too windy. Whites over for supper and ball games.
| Turned in my voluntary redundancy application. Ian and kids stopped in after picking Granny up (still spry at 78). Gail and I walked to Sanders to tell them that Gail is off to the States. Trish and boys came for supper. Doug couldn't make it - in a wrangle with Trevor selling his share of the practice. Exchanged birthday gifts. Big Goofy shirt, Goofy pin and Goofy airplane. Since the card she gave me had bits of a woman's sleeve in the mixer the baba cake Trish brought over had pieces of her dress in it. We called Joyce to advise her when to pick up Gail in Phoenix and she was surprized that Gail was coming. |
|
| Gail and I went to Mt Wellington and bought two lawn chairs [ed - $137/ea - still have them in 2022]. Whites to visit Heather, Mary, Neli and kids.

Steve Graham dropped in - he is setting up a company here and plans to move back. Doug over for our first game since March. Played the "For The Record 50s-60s-70s" that I picked up in States.
