1963 | Mom told us that she is divorcing Dad.
1970 | Woodward's birthday - Murray and I ate over there and gave some speeches to end all speeches. Atmores, Kacis, Breezes and Hargrove over. We showed Guns for San Sebastion at our place. Ghetto watched it too and when the bad guy came on she would growl.
1973 | Rodewalds came to look at the tape deck. Bruce Tobler over for a meal, snooker and billiards.
1974 | Basketball practice with Gail's team, Leeds. Alfred came over at 6PM, Frances arrived at 7:30PM to babysit and Bakkers arrived shortly after. Went to Breeze's and had a good time. Alfred ate a whole chocolate mousse on a bet.
1984 | Sa - High = 68°F. Tom and Kathy over for a curry meal with a dry Zonin 1980 Mountepulciano then slides of NZ.
1991 | Angi and I went to Sedona. We stopped to get a photo of Verde Valley. Met a fellow there - he was a bush pilot in Yukon who had been to NZ. He had written a book and showed it to us and gave us his card. Lunch on balcony at a fancy restaurant so we could view the red rock formations. I had a salad - chicken barbequed in mesquite then soaked in a lime-honey sauce, Carmalized walnuts interspersed - very scrumpsish. Drove past the Chapel in the rock. Hit the tourist shops area, but only did one - sent a post card to Jim - "Tell you what" and got him a jar of Hopi popcorn and a Hopi calendar. Bought a rock for James A and a calendar for me. Beautiful drive to Oak Creek Canyon where we walked along the west fork trail. On the way back we stopped for another photo of Verde Valley. Reached Prescott in the dark. Went to El Chaparral with Joyce. I had shrimp in ranch sauce (cammarones rancheros - sort of a cajun taste). It was so damn good that I woofed it down. Home for slides - Angi fell asleep. We woke her when mom called. Tried slides again and she fell asleep again. |

1997 | M - Term 4 began today and I was given big hugs by Fabiola, Douglas S and Chihiro, but Yukiko almost squeezed me to death. Haven't seen them for 100 days. A heap of work dumped on me by Des. | Fab |
1999 | Th - Helen and Fiona Wright over for supper and then night class (Excel).
2003 | Gail and I were able to get a spot in Fountain car park. Bit too crowded to sit with Trish so I sat with my family and Whites. Wonderful service - a true celebration with many good antecdotes. Steve set the tone and following speakers for the most part maintained that spirit. SRO and so many people that I didn't know. After the ceremony I stayed downstairs to avoid the perfumed closed quarters in the reception. Gail and David left with the Whites - I stayed at the entrance and chatted with people as they left. Met up with old friends Kathy S, Mike and Sandy, Mark and Lia, Richard Heard (and wife), Brundell, Graeme and Maitel, Perry and Kay, Bickertons, Wayne. Graeme Purvis Jr (looks just like his father) just got married. Met Maire's daughter, Lisa. And after 30 years finally met Verna and John and son David. Trish and I were last to leave and luckily I was there when she couldn't get her key to turn the ignition. Marcia's where I met her daughter Jenna (her 23rd birthday today) and her guy John (from Invercargill). Also there were Marcia's Wellington friends, Bernadette and Cathy (just won NZ Quilter of the year). Marcia gave me the pen Doug had bought for me in Oregon. Phil sketched The Johari Window for me. |
