1969 | Gave Gail the engagement ring. | |
1972 | Whites with Susi's cousin, Murphys, Haysons and Kacis over for a barbecue. Let the kids do their own franks then Penny, Ma and I cooked up a ton of stuff - used Hayson's BBQ as a warmer. After it broke up we played snooker at Haysons until 2:30AM. | Ma |

1983 | F - Rolling Stone for Al's farewell. He figured he sneak out and go home from there but we forced him back. Rollie's surprize (he was) 40th party. Met Ursula and Jerry Palesh, Mary and Phil Bentz, Arlan and Elaine Schwitters and Greg and Becky Sailer. Gave him a certificate for Staining his basement woodwork. Many great stories. Our kids came over and were in basement playing ping pong. David and I were the last to leave at midnight. | |
1988 | Denny's where I shouted Graeme S (his birthday). Had a Fuzzy Naval. Manukau Mall and back to Denny's where I interviewed James Mitchell over coffee. | |
1989 | Ian, Susi, Tracy and Jackie came over. Played bridge, then adults to White House for 2nd anniversary of arrival in NZ with an excellent French Sante Marguirite Chardonnay. Back home for more bridge. | |
2005 | Listened to Twins final game as they beat Detroit 6 - 4. Herb Carneal honored for 50 years major league broadcasting. | |
2006 | Made up a Fiji night collage. Fiji night. Big crowd - three times as many as last time. Met Pravindra who lives on Colombo and had taught north of QVS. Nick Downes (claimed to live in Fiji when 3 years old). Met a British couple, Alison (negroid) and Brent (son Ollie)- he's teaching maths at Waiuku. Found out that Glenis Eason's husband, Joe, is a Rotuman. The Tennants and Ian Hendry were also on board. Raulesh and family came and were farewelled as he has a promotion to Mt Wellington (BNZ). Ian led us in singing Fijian national anthem. Susi and five other women did some hulas for us. Trish Kaitani has a job at Middlemore in mental health department. Saki was MC. 2012 | Su - Smithers visited until 4PM. Kathy and Mike showed up around 6PM. Kathy gave me a Selaks 2011 Reserve Gewurztraminer Riesling (birthday gift). Chatted in the sunroom until dark and then had a meal with an excellent 2009 McGuigan chardonnay. | |
2018 | Su - A very high speed bump was installed at entry to village and Gail is so upset about it that she is going to complain. Discovered Warriors season tickets going for half price, so I called Russell. | |
2022 | F - Breakers first home game in 489 days. They beat Taz 71 - 65. Only 3 players from last year, so it doesn't interest me as much. AFL: Port slaughtered Bombers 146 - 62! | |
2023 | Sa - Out to Repco to get blades for Platz wipers. Then Mitre10 to get staples, a lemon tree and a storage box. Picked up tamarillos at roadside stand. Watched the Twins final game of season, losing to lowly Rockies 3 - 2 in 11 innings. | |
