1971 Domo had a Feast to celebrate his first firewood collection. Dhir Singh (photo at right) moves in with me.
1974 Gail went grocery shopping and overspent by $3. Very little money left and 13 days until pay.
1975 Water meter man told me that the soybean plant makes ham and Baco-s and that Dawson has Soybean Days in April. Gail brought home a Wards catalogue that was fun to look through. Saw a red-headed woodpecker in the backyard.
1977 Levene's Grand Opening (across from monument) and Gail bought a step-ladder [ed. - $50 still have it in 2022], paint, flour bin and a wading pool.
1980 F - Josephson's. Kids got on real well and had lots of fun. Jerry gave me a tour of progress in the attic [ed. - in '75 I had a tour of the basement]. Jerry and I talked computers, as he is programmer. David seeing Gail wearing her name tag from work: "Why, are you shy?".
1987 Anil and I went to the Trading Post at Rosehill shops where he bought a tiller and an lawn edger. Used goods shop across from court house where he picked up a wheelbarrow and tools. Not enough so it was over to Placemakers for more. Brought the loot to his place where we were joined by Gail and David for a lovely curry lunch. Inbetween squalls I showed him how to prune roses, peach, apple, hedge etc... while Gail cleared, weeded and turned their veggie garden. Brought Lees', now ours, canoe over to our garage.
1990 Bonnie brought us to the airport at 11AM for a one hour flight to Houston (video) where we waited with Angi and Jim an hour for Gail's flight from Phoenix. Then we spent 30 minutes on the airport train system doing a full circle and getting off where we got on and walked to the car! (video) They set us up in the visitors apartment. She and I walked around the block three times so we could have a talk. We walked to the Hard Rock Cafe. I had limed chicken and a cranberry sparkler (receipt). Drove over to a rich neighborhood and walked around in the dark. Stopped at Randall's for groceries around 10:30PM. There were 3 armed guards at the entrance. Coffee, cake and ice cream while watching Letterman.
1997 F - Day 67 of our 3 month journey around the world. See 1997 Trip Photo Journal.
2001 Ne got me up with the news that terrorists had crashed planes into the World Trade Center and Pentagon. Final Internet night. Most Kiwis are upset about the attacks and I, being their token American, got lots of hugs at the beginning of class. Brian Bell missed class last week and I told his wife that he had to bring a note, which he did with a bag of avocados "hoping to win your compassion".
2002 Drove from Grand Island, NE through Iowa to Hills, MN. Trip Report. Able to check email after a week. And who should write after 3 years? Yuki who wants us to visit Japan in November.
2003 Up at 8AM when National Roof owner advised that they couldn't get the color green that was the first coat and would an olive do (this after 9 months to get the paint organized). Well the olive was closer to what we wanted in the first place. So the two Indian fellows put on the second coat.
2013 Th - Gail and I went to Ian and Janice's million dollar apartment at the Mount. Very slow pneumatic elevator. Met granddaughter, India. First time at games night where I was met by Lola (French bulldog). Played Hanabi with Sean, Russell and Miles. Then it was Jamaica with Sean, Russell, Dave and Jamie.
2023 T - Gail had a chest X-Ray and I brought her to Farm Street and sat for over an hour reading while she saw Kevin who said he could see the heart thickening at bottom and that her feet are swollen due to too much salt. He decided to not operate on her leg lump and will send her to a specialist. Sold the three Lilliput books for $50. AFL: GWS 105 - Blues 73, so GWS makes top 8. Then a Finals game where the Pies beat the Demons 60 - 53 in a very physical game.
