1966	Watched "Green Hornet" first episode The Silent Gun. Made $2.10 playing poker after work.
1970	Up at 6AM but no McDougall and when he finally brought me to Natovi I missed the boat to Nukulevu island. Walked back to school. So I was on hand when a military helicopter landed on the rara a couple times. Quite a few people from local villages showed up to stare at it.
1972	Whites for bridge and got looped on rum before going up to Kaci's party. Talked to Maika (new teacher). Haysons, Atmores and Eric were on hand for a very formal meal with new silverware. Ian was obnoxious. Gail and I left at 1AM and walked right past our house.
1976	Te and I went to Super Valu for groceries and to the home to see mommy. Eiline/Paul, Vicki/Bronwyn, Jill/Trudy/Kristin all dropped in. Doug brought me over to see Gail in the evening.
1977	Spent the afternoon building the arbor on back deck. My new Raweigh Bermuda bike was delivered from PSIS and I put it together. Put the bell onto David's trike. Began putting shelves into the bedroom closet.
1980	T - Watched Letterman. Gail was told to come in for training at JC Penney in the Sun Ray shopping center. We played Snap.
1983	F - High = 82°F. I was the Getty Twins "Fan of the Game" and I get a $25 voucher for fuel/products. They beat KC 7 - 6 in 10 innings.
1984	Su - Flew from San Fran to Denver, changed planes and into Twin Cities about 2PM. Gail and kids picked me up. Immense pile of papers on my desk.
1990	Roxane brought us to a Putt-Putt in Mesquite (wild animal theme). We all got hole-in-one free games (video). I had 5 of them but still lost to Roxane by 1. So she paid for giant ice cream cones David had Tin Roof (video). We walked through a park - saw a squirrel and an ant highway (video). Drove by big houses and went into an open house one on a golf course selling for $1,365,000 (video). In the evening we went to Chili's I had Southwestern Shrimp which was excellent (menu). Had a funny, loud waiter. Video of David and Rachel. Looked at slides - Lake Louise, Kenya, St Marten, Sweden. Group photo.
1991	Airport at 5:30PM. Embarked at 6:45PM for 8 hour flight to Hawaii. Sat next to two young kiwis from the Mount. It was their first airplane ride and enjoying every minute of it - when they discovered drinks were free they got stuck in until the girl passed out. I had an OK Californian Sauvignon Blanc. Honolulu - wiki-wiki brought us to the wrong terminal so about 7 of us ran to the correct gate only to find out we had a three hour wait. 7UP flavored bubblegum. 6 hours to San Fran next to a builder/surfer from Kaui who's brother just died in a motorcycle accident in Idaho. Slept about 30 mins during the 33 hours of travel. Short wait at SF before flying onto Phoenix. Got there at 8:30PM and it was 91°F. Went to taxi rank and asked the cost to Prescott - he said $80, but he wasn't first in line. It was this Egyptian looking guy and all of the cabbies gathered around to hear what would happen. He didn't know where Prescott was so I told him about 100 miles. He said very quietly $30. Even I had to laugh with the cabbies. The guy who told me $80 told the driver to say $40. After some discussion with everyone we agreed upon $60 including tip. Turned out that he was from Eritrea. A church sponsored him a trip to US and he worked in a computer company for 5 years but got layed off. So a month ago he began driving cab. Pay $65/day. He drives 18 hours and barely makes enough to get by. A friend from his village is in New Zealand. I gave him $70. Found Joyce to be in good shape and we chatted until midnight.
1992	Awakeri: Ian straight into the hot pool. We climbed Mt Edgecumbe after getting permission. Had lunch at the crater lake at the top, then up to the trig in the clouds so no views (video). Made it back to the van just as heavy rain, complete with lightning hit. Stopped in Kawerau. Back to camp for coffee and then into a spa (inside a water tank) for half an hour. 1993	Went to Waharau Regional Park with Whites and did track 3B - an easy hour's hike (video). Miranda Hot Springs for a soak and barbeque supper. A some Kelvin Road School students there and calling out "Mrs Malecek". I imagine that there would be gossip at school about seeing Mrs Malecek in a bikini. Home to play a couple rubbers of bridge. Ian and I had good hands.
