GOING GOING GONE
I guess if you live long enough buildings and places you once were in or at disappear. Its called “progress”.
The house in Minneapolis is gone — burnt down or demolished? Just a vacant lot. Irving Elementary school was demolished to make was for a freeway.
The massive Minneapolis Auditorium where I saw so many circuses is also a motorway victim.
The beautiful multi-field Little League park in Richfield now has a landing strip for the Intl airport complex.
The Met Stadium where I sold Hot dogs one year and attended baseball games for 21 years — gone and the ginormous Mall of America now sits there.
The Holiday Inn in Bloomington, MN where I worked for 4 years is now a parking ramp.
The apartment building I lived in during 1969 has been replaced.
The house we rented in Dawson, MN in 1975 suffered flood damage and was demolished.
The school in Ookala, Hawaii that housed the Peace Corps volunteers for 3 months is now overgrown by the jungle plants.
My uncle’s farm near Morgan, MN was levelled and crops now reside over that spot.
The two places we owned in Papakura each had all the trees and bushes replaced with more houses (full list).

It took me seven years to do the A-Z MalleyGrams. In some cases I had to leave things out due to space restrictions. I also reckon I have accumulated a few more items during that time. So I bring you G 2.0 The orignal "G" has been updated read it
GRANITE MOUNTAIN - Outside of Prescott, AZ is this imposing summit. After climbing to the top of Thumb Butte I set on eyes on GM. Gail and I did an exploratory hike going as far as Little Granite Mt. After she returned to NZ I made the climb to the top of GM. It was a steady effort on my part. But I was running out of time and that found me running down the mountain. I made it to the base just as dark settle in and eventually I could no longer see the trail. Me, Mr. Ever Ready, hadn’t brought a flashlight or matches. I wasn’t supremely worried as the park was locked at 9PM and the ranger would have discovered my car and eventually a search party would be on its way. Of course, I ended up off the trail and had to turn back. Luckily, I found it and very carefully stayed on it. I didn't come out where I went in, but I was able to find the parking lot and get to the car at 8:55PM. (full story and photos)
GONDOLAS - Not the ones in Venice. I have never skied, so haven’t been on that type of lift. But surprisingly I have been in a few air lift gondolas. The largest one held around 20 people and carried us across and back in the Blue Mountains of Australia (words and photos). That would have the scariest ride — especially when it stopped midway to allow us to get photos of Katoomba Waterfall.
Taronga Zoo (Sydney, Australia) gave us a good view of the pandas. We did a circuit of Disneyland in 1980. Rode a small one through the Swiss pavilion at Brisbane’s Expo ‘88. We have used the ones at Rotorua and Queenstown to get to the top of peaks.
The longest ride (7.5Km) was the Skyrail on the way down from Kuranda to the coast near Cairns, Australia (photo) 2010 (full list)..
GARDENS - Not ours — the 25 public ones we have seen. Since I like trees over flowers my favorite would be the ones in Sacramento, Queenstown, Sydney and Tauranga which all feature very old and large trees from around the world. The most amazing one was at Cairns — we only covered a portion of it and must go back.
We wandered through one in Brunei with the Breezes (photo) in hopes of seeing monkeys (heard them). The best water garden is at Raupara Valley on the Coromandel in New Zealand with a magnificent waterfall (full list).
