2004 TP Friday Night Action |
Comments to Malley: | small matters are of such concern to us | re-live 2001 2002 2003 |
DATE | HOME/Version | PRESENT | TRIVIA | GOSSIP
17 Dec | Bert NZ Genus IV | BN GM JNM ICW MH IB PF RH | Riddiford, anyone? Grand Canal of China LENTILS | You mean to tell me that I drove 20 blinking miles to a house with No tea!!!!
Russell to the rescue - went out and bought a box of Mark Todd's fav. Was holidaying teachers
versus hard workers and despite Gail and Irene yabbing away - their team managed a tie. I would like everyone to go to the lentil link a
where you will see that it is indeed a chickpea and Indian dal is made with them or peas or garbonzo beans and I mentioned each one of those only to be told that I was wrong!!!!!!!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We meet again on 7th at Paul and Irene's. |
Why was Ian exposing himself? |
10 Dec | MHAH NZ Genus IV | AH MH GM JNM RH PF | Grimaldi, anyone? Harry vs Henry Like Water For Chocolate | Hard to wipe the smile from "Freed Man" Harrison. I promised not to say anything but look at the photo and make up your own caption. Wonder if Ann and Christopher will stop in Philadelphia? John, in an effort to counterbalance the sedentary junk food gathering, tried to get people to give the answer with a little verve. Why is Miss X hiding?
3 Dec | Malleys US Genus IV | JNM GM RM AH AE AB MC SC ICW SW StW SaW MH RdV SdV | snoach, anyone?
Jane Roe |
Congratulations to first-time Anny-Granny - Sam born to Roseanne and Scott. Wow talk about a full house - might be a record gathering. Extra brain power didn't help as we still ran into cheat time, but maybe the wine had something to do with the inability to answer most of the questions, eh? New comers Sandy and Mike jumped right in and got fully involved. Happy Birthday John.
19 Nov | RHAE Know It All | AE RH JNM GM ICW IB | Blue laws, anyone? Harold Washington Jenny Jones | Some role reversal between the Malleys caused confusion. I'm certain that I haven't been to the "only" natural lake in AZ. Ian badgered us with his Clan Campbell thingies. That is when he wasn't busy skipping the easy questions in search of a tough one.
29 Oct | MHAH | AH MH JNM GM RH AE IB | Irene wore her Eddie Munster mask for the Halloween gathering. Mr Saturday seems mildly happy with his new job driving all over Auckland each day. Colleen now a grandmother.
22 Oct | Malleys Young Players | JNM GM RM MH ICW | Ajak, anyone?
Henry Huggins Turok Cowbird |
Well, Mike really wanted to tell everyone about his new job, so he went to Malley's a week early. Hasty call and Ian appeared for a makeshift game. Speaking of jobs, Colleen has one and we are making taking bets on how long she will last. Ian doesn't want to misled anyone, but he has never seen a Blue Hen.
15 Oct | RHAE Know It All | AE RH ND GM JNM CW BS ICW | sarsaparilla, anyone? Moxie Gen. Putnam | Well, it was old friends night with Bev, Nick showing up. And Colleen returning from the frozen plains and people of CHCH. The two ladies back from their cruise on the old Fair Sky, now Pacific Sky. Colleen had a good "trip" with the food covering everyone in slow motion. It was a battle of the sexes and lucky was a draw, eh? Course John had to help the women with "Cairo"...
8 Oct | PFIB UK Genus | PF IB JNM GM ICW AE RH MH | Golden Wonder, anyone? River Dee | Makes no Bones about it, but Paul did decieve us with the "hyphen" coverup. Knoptic or coptic? Gail back from States with suitcase of Corelle dishes that can hold sticky cabbage, eh?.
1 Oct | MHAH NZ Genus IV | MH AH JNM IB ICW | Archibald Prize, anyone? | This is REAL trivia folks: Waingaro Hot Springs has two Scottish flags. We are thinking of hiring a marquee for our next game at a mere $10,000.
17 Sep | PBIF | PF IB MH AE RH | Bon Voyage Gail and Irene. We played we cheated it was a draw! IB & MH hid the lollies from PF said he wasn't allowed. Then THEY ate them in front of Paul. Meanies! Russell floated saved him giving away the answers. P & A stayed awake JUST. Q's from UK nothing about Wales this time! Lots of Q's about very minor soccer grounds that no one had heard of.
10 Sep | Malleys US 20th | JNM GM AE RH AB ICW PF IB MH JW RM | Ishiguro, anyone? William Safire Oil Can Boyd | Ian, who sneezes in sunlight (sounds like an Indian name: "Sneezes in Sunlight") managed to get his car going (keys locked in with motor running).
Russell thought he was an octopus and we thought we'd to do an exorcism as they did on Mother Theresa.
Jackie back from N'orlins territory where she ate al'g'tor tail (altogether now: "tastes like chicken"). We were joined by Audrey for the first time and she
actually knows Björk. But no one knew about Opus.
Happy Birthday Russell |
3 Sep | BN NZ Genus | BN JNM GM ICW | Marquis, anyone?
Otira Tunnel |
Too bad no one came to see photos of Bert's grandson or Ian in a kilt suit.
27 Aug | AE Know It All | AE JNM IB | Salad Days, anyone? Real McCoys Islet Cells 1,000,000 men march | TP is back home where he belongs. Kind of difficult to report when only 3 show up. Still Sarah is a glow and not because she and Mark have bought a house. Speaking of Love American Style, Chris and Mina marrying at Footbridge in Jan. I wonder if there will be any French Kisses, or Russian or English? It was women against Malley and being the gentleman he did not complain when they beat him fair and square.
20 Aug | MHAH NZ Genus IV | MA AH JNM GM AE RH | ITA, anyone? | Rather pleasant night with little or no stress (once Mike got the cat out the door). But then it could have been the red (lemon flavor) Anti-Stress pills that Emery brought along. Mind you I am not getting much sleep worrying about TP being held (for ransom by Filipino miltants?). And Russell was still unnerved by his first time in to a men's clothing store.
13 Aug | Malleys OZ BabyBoom | JNM GM AMcG MMcG IB MH AE RH RM | Nancy and Sluggo Frank Hardy Hawaiian Eye "Cricket" is her name not the sport Bea Miles |
Happy Birthday Ann Bev and Colleen are back in NZ from their cruise before the postcards, if there are any, have arrived. Newcomers Alastair and Maureen were sadly disappointed that Slim Dusty wasn't an answer all night. Mike has a license to drive forklifts but he can't find his way to Malley Manor without his trusty Ann; so he and Irene (sans TP!!), once they found a road to Waiuku, drove past first try. Ann and Russell did not have a good meal at RoadHouse before they came. John ecstatic because he now knows that it was Judy Stone who sang "4,003,221 teardrops. Mike laid claim to the game ending "read from the top" rule. There was a cake, not much of a candle.... | Click to enlarge, eh? |
6 Aug | PFIB NZ Genus IV | PF IB JNM GM AE AH MH | TVG, anyone?
malleable Mother Beare |
Warehouse is training Mike to use long fork - if he passes he won't get the wooden spoon. Meanwhile Miss X is not enjoying the clientle in Manukau. New cat in house has better accomodation than most 3rd world people. In fact, its so nice there that TP decided to stay behind.
30 Jul | AERH US Mill | AE RH JNMGM ICW IB | Latrell Sprewell, anyone? | Happy 60th Bev and bon voyage Ian bragging about his fancy car where the wipers work even when its not raining. John had to translate what Gail read. Only person who didn't know the Irene rule? Irene.
2 Jul | Waiuku NZ Genus | JNM GM ICW SW RH AE SS Cedric PH CK Gary Rudy Ashok +++ | yaqona, anyone? first American buried in England HGW father | Most interesting game in a long while - no board, no die, no teams, just questions and whoever answered the question could drink a bilo of kava or nominate someone else to do so.
25 Jun | MHAH NZ Genus IV | MH AH JNM GM ICW RH AE | Kafka, anyone? leg bye does not = bye | Ian is definitely a year older now as Sirius in Harry Potter movie confused him. Beavis and Butthead, aka John and Mike, love AC/DC. Em who is totally exhausted DIDN'T fall asleep!!!
18 Jun | PFIB NZ Genus IV | IB PF ICW JNM GM AH MH RH | Golden Heart Award, anyone? | Happy Birthday Ian If any one knows where Hill St is, let Mike know. We are pretty sure it is near the longest street (32 Km) in NYC. Tart-An looked tired, wonder if she has hepatitis c. Mike had a plan (not Plan 9 from Outer Space but kept getting diverted by the women on his team. Russell took the direct approach on the other team and told Gail to "Shut Up".
11 Jun | Malleys US Genus | AE RH JNM GM RM IB | Broderick, anyone? | Two Tiny Tim questions about two Tiny Tims. Poor Gail, was all confused. Mike was too busy counting the cash from his new business to make it for 3rd week in a row.
4 Jun | AE KnowItAll | AE RH ICW GM JNM | Ne has an exhibition at Papakura Art Gallery until 11 June Left my notebook at a cient's. Make up your own gossip,eh? I do recall that the questions didn't seem too difficult this time.
28 May | Malleys US Gen 5 | JNM GM AE RH | hanta, anyone? how's about a little a galileo or a quark? | Small turnout so John played the other three. Where was the Phillie Phanatic when I needed him? Wasn't a difficult challenge with someone thinking that Britney Spears was a Spice Girl. Flying squirrels????
21 May | PFIB UK Genus | PF IB JNM AE RH AH MH | Invalids, anyone?
Finbar |
Happy Birthday ScamMan. Following a free dindin at Denny's da Man came by for some cake. But first we had to play and it was tough going with British questions. photo
14 May | BN NZ Genus | BN JNM GM IB PF AH MH | herbalife, anyone?
or this one
don't let it kill you "Mother is always right" |
Was a good time at newly grandpa'd (boy) Bert's. Ian played electronic TP on the flight to Scotland against other passengers. Rin Tin Tin and Jean Harlow were never in a movie together. We broke early as Paul actually has to go to work!!!!
7 May | AHMH NZ Genus IV | AH MH AE JNM GM RH ICW | TPer's hit the air: Brundell is airing his way to Japan and China, Debbie flew off to Austria via the Gold Coast, Ian is on his way to Scotland to attend his mother's funeral, Emery is flying down to Dunedin for a short SPELD and Russell, as usual, is flying off the handle.
30 Apr | AERH NZ Genus | AH MH AE RH ICW |
| Ann E. is giving empty ink cartridges to a charity to raise money - so don't toss yours out. Seems like Russell saved the day by doing almost everything, except answer questions. The hot peas were "hot". | |
23 Apr | MHAH NZ Gen IV | AH MH JNM GM AE RH IB | Does a G8 beat a Big 10? | Happy Birthday Ms X. Happy short retirement to Da Man. Russell birdied his first hole and Mike was so relieved when he found out it was golf. "Granny" Emery wasn't too thrilled with the incorrect assessment made twice whilst getting Christopher care for his au courant crenelated appendage. Whoops, Mike hates BIG words: "latest broken leg", eh?
2 Apr | AE | AE IB MH ICW | Have a Happy and Holy Easter | The LazyBoy team of AE and IW even appointed MH to roll their dice, which he did better for them than for his own team. IB and MH wanted to take the slow train to Paris. IB told all about the embarrassing effects of asparagus. Also, that the teachers in the TV programme TEACHERS don't actually teach, and the students misbehave a lot.
26 Mar | Malleys 20th Anniv | JNM GM RM AE RH ICW SW | vasilopita, anyone? How about a cherimoya? Darkseid Jackie Bibby | Condolences to Irene's friend, Jean, who lost her husband. John upset because he wanted squid and ginger noodles. Gail has a wierd way of signaling "no". Ian wants me to look up Barenaked Ladies. we struggled with the modern day questions and had to get Ne to play and float to get anywhere. De V's couldn't make as Roché was sleeping in the house he built for the boys.
19 Mar | IB British Genus | PF IB JNM GM ICW AE RH AH MH | calamari, anyone? "Dynamite" lyrics WORK is a 4 Letter Word Shelly is not one of the Likely Lads | Ian back from his flat race around the Bays "with" Su (she finished 2 hours after he did). Paul and Irene surprized to see us arrive. AE too busy emailing porno to let me know where we were this week until a few hours beforehand. Paul really likes his Belgium beer.
12 Mar | AERH NZ 1993 | AE JNM GM ICW IB | Husbands and Wives, anyone? Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer | DON'T WORRY Russell revived Ann at the last minute; NOT!!! The game was a challenge as expected. Wish they could all be as easy as it seemed for Mina to get a job.
5 Mar | Waiuku College | ICW JNM GM AE RH AM MM | go to report | Happy Birthday Gail
27 Feb | MHAH NZ Genus IV | MH AH JNM GM AE | Tuzla, anyone? Leopold Bloom | HAPPY BIRTHDAY Paul. Because of the weather Ann didn't drive her new flash car. It definitely wasn't shuffleboard weather. Miss X was Xtraordinarily Xcellent.
20 Feb | PFIB UK Genus | PF IB JNM GM AH MH IB RH | Flat Earth, anyone?
Dusty Hare Harold Larwood Vivienne Westwood Su Cook Desperate Dan |
Men against women. We got so far ahead that Russell kept landing on History to give them a chance to get the required "tie". Turns out that the German board has fewer areas to land upon and it requires the rollers to think more.
6 Feb | BN NZ Genus | BN JNM GM ICW MH AH IB PF AE RH | hyoid, anyone? Pope Fabian didn't have a sequel | Happy Birthday Bert. Big turn out for what was the night of sequels or seconds. Mike and Ann were first and now its Paul and Irene's turn in "SHEDS II". Ian managed to lose the die on 3 tosses in "DIE HARD II". NZ's geothermal station was the 2nd in the world. Sydney was shelled in the remake of WORLD WAR I. Paul assures us that there are TWO statues of Capt Cook in NZ, neither of which are Capt Cook.
30 Jan | AE Millenium | AE JNM GM AH MH IB PF | branch water, anyone? Amy Fisher | Da man, now has Da computer. No time for frolicking - everyone back to work.
23 Jan | MHAH NZ Genus IV | AH MH GM JNM | Politburo, anyone? Ivan Milat | Women discussed kitchen things - Ann's cooka and Gail explained how to defrost a frig. And the men talked DVD and computers. Oh, and we played a game of TP.
16 Jan | Malleys US Genus IV | JNM GM RM AH MH AE RH ICW | split, anyone? Dane vs Dali dental stuff napalm Nancy Lopez | Once Mike found the cups we were in business. Well, after the weird skunk die once found then the game began. Just for the record, the display was "American Gothic" theme. Ian wandered in just in time to float after complain about the Auckland transit system. Apparently Miss X has had a ring on her toe for a year. She has certainly had da Man wrapped around her little finger for at least that length of time, if not more. These TP sessions sure are a good way to find out where Gail has been.
9 Jan | AHMH NZ Genus IV | AH MH AE JNM GM | freshwater mussel, anyone? | New blue rockin' rolling lounge suite. And a lovely deck outline on the lawn. Some talk about eyeglasses, Emery having trouble with a blind man not to mention Christopher's wandering eye.
2 Jan | AERH OZ Genus | AH MH JNM GM PF AE | QID, anyone? Mrs Soffel Order of the Garter | Great start to the new year - I'm so dopey that I can't add 18 and 32. Paul has found yet another way to get out of working. Ann E. was in stitches, but couldn't laugh about it. Ann H. can't get rid of her old couch. And Mike may not being getting chocolate mud cake at his wedding. |
